Duplicating Folders

Table 17. Availability - Legacy plans

Overview

All users except collaborators can duplicate folders.

Duplicate a folder to quickly copy data from that folder or project.

When you duplicate a folder's custom fields, dependencies between tasks are automatically duplicated as well. Comments from the folder aren't copied.

Note

There's a limit of 4000 items created from blueprints and/or duplicated per every 7 days. Every time you create an item from a blueprint or duplicate an item, Wrike checks if the limit has been reached in the previous 7 days. If the limit is reached, you won't be able to create new items from blueprints or via duplication. You can try again in the following days, e.g., if you created 4000 items on a Tuesday, you can create more items only next Tuesday.

Duplicate a folder

  1. Navigate to the space that contains the relevant folder.

  2. Right-click a folder from the sidebar in your workspace.

  3. Click Duplicate and a pop-up will appear where you can:

    1. Change the folder name (optional) 1.

    2. Add a prefix (optional) 2. Text added in the prefix field is added to the beginning of the titles of all items within the duplicated folder (this includes subfolders, subprojects, tasks, and subtasks).

    3. Select a new location (optional) 3. Select the folder, project, or space where your duplicated folder should be added. If you don’t pick a new location, the copy is created in the same location as the original.

  4. Check the boxes under What to copy to select what you'd like to duplicate 4:

    • Tasks: Copy all of the folder tasks and subtasks.

    • Bookings: Copy all the bookings within the folder.

    • Description: Copy the task descriptions as well as the folder description.

    • Attachments: Copy items attached to tasks and the folder info panel.

    • Assignees: Copy task assignees.

    • Custom field values: Duplicated tasks will always have the same custom fields as the original tasks, but you can check this box to copy data from the original tasks to the new tasks.

      Note

Custom fields inherited from top-level folders, projects, and spaces won’t be copied if you change the folder location when duplicating.

    • Reschedule: Leave this box unchecked to make the task dates identical to the scheduled dates in the original folder. Check this box to set the start date of the first task or due date of the last task in the folder. All other tasks will be rescheduled accordingly.

  5. (Optional) check Add another 5 so that the dialog box remains open and you can duplicate another folder (you can configure each folder differently using this option).

  6. Click Duplicate 6.
