Overview

All users except Collaborators, Contributors, or Viewers can duplicate folders.

Duplicate a folder to quickly copy data from that folder or project.

When you duplicate a folder's custom fields, dependencies between tasks are automatically duplicated as well. Comments from the folder aren't copied.

Time entries are not carried over to the new item after duplication.

Note

There's a weekly limit on mass item creation of 3000 items for FreeProfessional and Team accounts, and 12000 items for Business PlusEnterprise Standard and Enterprise Pinnacle Accounts. Wrike checks if the limit has been reached in the previous 7 days. When the limit is reached, new item creation from blueprints or via duplication is blocked until the limit is reset automatically (after 7 days) or manually (with the help of Wrike Support Team). Additionally, there's a limit of 5000 items created in bulk during one action. The same limits apply to other mass creation actions like Excel import and MS Project import.

Duplicate a folder

  1. Navigate to the space that contains the relevant folder.

  2. Right-click a folder from the sidebar in your workspace.

  3. Click Duplicate and a pop-up will appear where you can:

    1. Change the folder name (optional) 1.

    2. Add a prefix (optional) 2. Text added in the prefix field is added to the beginning of the titles of all items within the duplicated folder (this includes subfolders, subprojects, tasks, and subtasks).

    3. Select a new location (optional) 3. Select the folder, project, or space where your duplicated folder should be added. If you don’t pick a new location, the copy is created in the same location as the original.

  4. Check the boxes under What to copy to select what you'd like to duplicate 4:

    • Tasks: Copy all of the folder tasks and subtasks.

    • Bookings: Copy all the bookings within the folder.

    • Description: Copy the task descriptions as well as the folder description.

    • Attachments: Copy items attached to tasks and the folder info panel.

    • Assignees: Copy task assignees.

    • Custom field values: Duplicated tasks will always have the same custom fields as the original tasks, but you can check this box to copy data from the original tasks to the new tasks.

      Note

Custom fields inherited from top-level folders, projects, and spaces won’t be copied if you change the folder location when duplicating.

    • Reschedule: Leave this box unchecked to make the item dates identical to the scheduled dates in the original folder. Check this box to set the start date of the first task or due date of the last task, or dates of another selected task in the folder. All other items will be rescheduled accordingly, maintaining the original time/date intervals and dependencies between them.

  5. (Optional) check Add another 5 so that the dialog box remains open and you can duplicate another folder (you can configure each folder differently using this option).

  6. Click Duplicate 6.

Note

The date picker in the Duplication dialog (for copying items and launching Blueprints) uses a standard calendar, showing Saturday and Sunday as non-working days. It does not support custom work schedules. If you select a non-working day based on your account’s work schedule, Wrike automatically reschedules the created tasks to the nearest working day.
