Filtering Data on the Board

Availability: Pinnacle. ; Unavailability: Free, Team, Business, Enterprise; |
You can add one or multiple filters while working with analytics boards.
It's possible to apply filters at three different levels:
-
Dashboard (top level)
-
Widget
-
Formula (lowest level)
When you set a filter at a lower level, it takes precedence over the same filter set at a higher level. For example, if you set a filter at the widget level, it will override the same filter set at the dashboard level. Similarly, a formula-level filter will replace both widget and dashboard-level filters.
Filters are applied across widgets based on data relationships defined in our Data Model. For example, if you add a filter by Task attribute to a widget based on Projects, Projects with no Tasks will be excluded from the view due to how the filter is applied across the connected Project and Task tables.
-
Navigate to Reports tab 1 in the sidebar and open the required analytics board from the list.
Note
If you don’t see this option, click on the More button in the sidebar and select Reports from the list.
-
Click the + icon 2 on the Filters panel to the right of the board.
-
Select the field filters you want to apply 3.
-
In the pop-up that appears select the type of filter you want to apply 4:
-
List
-
Text
-
Ranking
-
Starred
-
-
Once you’re finished setting up the filter, click OK 5.
Note
There's no way to filter an analytics board or widget using two different custom fields at once (learn why). Using custom fields as dimensions provides more flexibility and works around the aforementioned limitation.

When setting up filters on the board level you can select an option to Set as background filter. The background filter can be used to:
-
Limit the filter options to enable/disable only specific items from the list.
-
Create a consistent view for all users, but not clutter the board with too many visible filter options.
