Creating Analytics Widgets From the Gallery

TL;DR

With Advanced Reporting and BI, you can quickly add pre-built widgets to any analytics board, whether it’s custom or template-based. Available widgets include totals, trends, status charts, lists, progress views, burndown charts, and custom field summaries. To add one, open your board, click Edit if needed, select +Widget, choose a template, add a name or custom field if required, and click Add. For best performance, keep each board to eight widgets or fewer.

Overview

With Advanced Reporting and BI, you can select a pre-built widget and add it to any of your boards, either custom or those created from a template.

Note

For the best performance, it's recommended to have no more than eight widgets per board.

Available widget templates

Widget name Data
Total tasks The overall number of tasks.
Total projects The overall number of projects.
Total active tasks The overall number of active (not completed, deferred, or canceled) tasks.
Total active projects The overall number of active (not completed, deferred, or canceled) projects.
Time spent by category A pie chart showing how much time (in hours) was spent on each timelog category.
Tasks created trend A line chart showing how many tasks were created over time.
Tasks completed trend A line chart showing how many tasks were completed over time.
Tasks by status A pie chart showing how many tasks have a specific status.
Task list A pivot table showing all tasks, their status, assignees, dates, and other details.
Tasks completion progress The percentage of tasks that are completed, with conditional coloring.
Projects by status A pie chart showing how many projects have a specific status.
Project list A pivot table showing all projects, their status, owners, dates, and other details.
Burndown by task completion A chart showing the percentage of open tasks by date so you can see project progress.
Total of tasks custom fields The total of custom field values defined on tasks.
Total of projects and folders custom fields The total of custom field values defined on projects and folders.
Tasks by custom field A bar chart/pie chart showing how many tasks have a specific custom field value.
Projects and folders by custom field A bar chart/pie chart showing how many folders and projects have a specific custom field value.
Average of tasks custom field The average custom field value defined on tasks.
Average of folders and projects custom field The average custom field value defined on folders and projects.

How to Create a Widget From a Template

To build a widget from a template:

  1. Open the analytics board you want to add a widget to or start creating a new one.
  2. Click the Edit button 1 in the upper-right corner of the workspace (you can skip this step if you're creating a new analytics board).

  3. Click the +Widget button 2 on the panel above the board.
  4. Select a widget from the list 3.
  5. Type the name of the widget (optional) 4.
  6. Select a custom field (if needed) 5.
  7. Click Add 6.

The widget is added to the board. You can add more widgets right away or click Save to apply the changes you’ve made.
