Calculating Time Spent on Projects

Time rollup is available for Business and higher accounts, regular, and admin users can enable and disable time rollup.

The Time spent attribute in projects allows you to see how much time was spent on the tasks it contains. You can rollup this number to automatically calculate the time spent on all the tasks in the project.

Enable rollup for projects

Time rollup can be enabled for single projects in their project item view or for multiple projects in Table view.

From the project item view:

  1. Navigate to the relevant space.

  2. Click on a project info button 1 to open its project item view.

  3. Hover over and click the icon to the right of Time spent 2 to turn on or turn off automatic calculation.


To turn off the time spent repeat Step 3 and click again to Turn off automatic calculation.

From Table view:

  1. Navigate to the space, folder, or project that contains all projects that you want to rollup the time spent.

  2. Switch to Table view.

  3. Make sure that the Time spent column is added to the view. If not, click on the Add column + icon 1 and enabling the button next to Time spent 2.

  4. Right-click or Click on the 3-dot menu next to the Time spent column title 3 and hover over Calculate subitems 4 in the drop-down menu.

  5. Select Turn on calculations/Turn off calculations for all projects 5.

  6. Click Turn on in the confirmation that appears.


You'll see the total number of hours spent on a project in the cell. To edit the values, switch to the Timelog view or open each task separately and edit the values from item view.


If a task is tagged with multiple parent locations, will its time spent be calculated for each tagged project or only one?

The time logged on a task associated with multiple projects will be reflected in each of the tagged projects.
