Board view lets you manage tasks, projects, and task-based items using a visual card layout organized by workflow statuses. You can update statuses, expand subitems, group cards by assignee, and manage work directly from item cards. It provides a flexible way to track progress, organize teamwork, and keep work moving efficiently in one place.
All users on all account types can use Board view.
Board view allows you to view all the tasks and task-based custom items in a project, folder, or space in a simple layout, which reflects their status. Tasks and task-based custom items are represented by cards listed under the relevant status.
Within the Board view, you can:
-
Sort and filter the shown cards.
-
Change the workflow of the view and edit the workflow itself.
-
Set up card view settings, including showing or hiding cover images and choosing which fields to display.
-
Open a task, project or task-based custom item in Item View (appears on the right-hand side of the screen)
The Board view consists of columns representing different statuses in the current workflow. In each column, there are cards representing tasks, projects and task-based custom items.
Board view supports displaying tasks as cards.
You can choose to display tasks from the Board view toolbar.
-
Click on the Display Menu 1.
-
Select Tasks 2 from the dropdown.
-
Task cards are displayed in the relevant workflow status columns based on their current status.
Each card is displayed under the relevant status and displays:
-
Task or task-based item name 1.
-
Assignee(s) 2.
-
Subitems (which can be clicked and expanded) 3.
-
Due date 4.
Clicking on a card opens the relevant task or task-based item in Item View which allows you to adjust all its details, add descriptions and comments, share items with teammates, and add approvals and files.
You can choose if you want to view tasks and task-based items which are in subfolders and subprojects of the space, folder, or project you are viewing. Click the three-dot menu in the Board view's upper-right corner and select Tasks from subfolders.
Note
Board view Project Display is available only on Business and higher plans.
Board view supports displaying projects as cards. You can choose to projects from the Board view toolbar.
-
Click on the Display Menu 1.
-
Select Projects 2 from the dropdown.
-
Project cards are displayed in the relevant workflow status columns based on their current status.
Project cards follow the same column grouping logic as task cards and can be moved between columns to update their status.
Each card is displayed under the relevant status and displays:
-
Project icon 1.
-
Project name 2.
-
Assignee(s) 3.
-
Subitems (which can be clicked and expanded) 4.
-
Due date 5.
Note
Subitems for projects work similarly to subitems for tasks. You can add and edit subitems directly from the project card. However, subitems can’t be moved separately from the parent project card. When Board view is set to Project mode, only project-level subitems are displayed and subtasks aren’t.
Projects and tasks that belong to workflows different from the workflow currently selected in Board view appear in a separate From other workflows column. This column is displayed only when at least one project from another workflow exists in the view.
Cards in the From other workflows column display a workflow badge showing the workflow name.
You have the option to expand or collapse the list of subitems within an item while in Board view. To do this:
-
Click the Hide or Show subitems button located below the assignee profile image on the corresponding card in the Board view column.
For task items, this displays subitems associated with the parent task. For project items, this displays the project’s subitems.
Note
Only first-level subitems appear in the expanded list. Nested subitems aren’t displayed.
