Work Item View

Table 41. Availability - Legacy plans

Overview

All users can open work item view of items that are shared with them.

The Work Item View is the detailed view of task- and project-based custom items. When you click on a custom item in some view or other areas of the workspace, like the sidebar, Reports, or Dashboards, the Work Item View opens on the right or in the overlay. For project-type custom items, you can also click the project info icon to open its Work Item View.

You can make the Work Item View the default for all items in your account. This way, all regular tasks and projects will also be displayed in the Work Item View, just like custom items.

Navigate the Work Item View

The way the Work Item View of a custom item looks depends on the settings of the custom item type. Custom item types are customizable, and you can hide some attributes and fields or add them to the view. Therefore, not all custom work items created out of custom types will look the same. But generally speaking, the Work Item View might contain all or some of the following attributes:

  • The name of the custom item type from which the item is created 1

  • Item's name 2

  • Approvals section 3

  • Timer (only in task-type items) section 4

  • Description field section 5

  • The section with the list of subitems (only in task-type items) 6

  • Files section: It displays attachments 7

  • Dependencies section (only in task-type items) 8

  • Stream 9

  • Comment field 10

  • System and custom fields in the panel on the right: 11

    • Status

    • Assignee: Note that in project-type custom items, the Assignee field is equivalent to the project owner of regular projects.

    • Date

    • Item type: Here, you'll see the custom item type from which the current item is created

    • Location: Which folders, projects, or spaces the item is tagged in

    • Importance (only in task-type items)

    • Author

    • Created date

    • ID

    • Custom fields, if there are any

Some of the sections and fields can be under hidden sections or hidden fields dropdowns, 12 respectively. It's possible to change what's displayed in the Work Item View by editing the custom item type. But remember that when you do that, the Work Item View will change in all custom items created from that custom item type.

Note

On Wrike Team accounts, the Work Item View is not customizable. But different kinds of work items might still have different attributes displayed.

Enable or disable the Work Item View for regular tasks and projects

Note

This option is not available for the Wrike Team plan because Task view and project info panels are not available on this plan.

You can enable the Work Item View for all tasks and projects that you or all users in the account see. This way, the Work Item View will replace Task view and project info panels in regular tasks and projects. Folder info panels will stay the same.

The Work Item View enabled for regular tasks and projects is not configurable and is, by default, the same for all tasks and projects:

  • Item's name, description field, the list of subitems (tasks only), files section, and stream are displayed.

  • Timer and Approvals sections are hidden.

  • System fields like status, date, assignee, etc., are displayed.

  • All custom fields and the system ID field are hidden.

Tip

If you want to view your regular tasks and projects in the Work Item View but also want to configure which fields and attributes are displayed, try creating custom item types with the required Work Item View configuration and then convert your regular tasks or projects into custom items.
