Folllowing List for Post: Wrike-Up Wednesday: Procrastination Confessions⏳🙈
[this list is visible for admins and agents only]
I've been procrastinating about mowing the lawn - with all the rain and warmer weather, it's getting wild. But also with all the rain, it's a soggy mess. Keep waiting for things to dry a little, knowing that might be weeks away.
I reviewed all my upcoming Wrike tasks but instead of tackling one, I just pushed them back a week—then went to lunch.
Same as Fabio up top, I am a big I need the right music to get the most work done, good theory but not so good in execution if it takes 20 minutes to select the soundtrack!
I took a day off instead and relaxed with fam.
Scheduled a client SEO report. Then decided I must redesign the template font. Spent 40 minutes choosing between Lato and Inter.
I volunteered to tackle reviewing and updating policy changes instead of sending an email. I spent 4 hours doing something instead of the 5 minutes it took to eventually send the email.
I sometimes spend too much time working on all the background processes and updates and notes instead of working on the actual project.
Bookmarking tasks for later is a great way to get my brain processing the pertinent information I need to apply to it at a later time (while addressing the past bookmarked items as they come up on the list)!
I'm with those who come here to procrastinate. It can definitely be a rabbit hole but I feel slightly productive because it's related to work....
When I work from home, I have to leave the house and walk for at least 10 minutes and when I get back prepare a nice long coffee, otherwise I can't sit for more than 20 minutes at a time working.
I was going to respond to this thread on the 2nd, but instead I successfully distracted myself trying to figure out how to create a Risk Rating Matrix using the datahub and some automations, and now it's the following Monday.
One time, I told myself, “I can’t start this presentation until I find the perfect background music to get in the zone.”
What followed was an hour-long journey through Spotify — sampling everything from “Lo-fi for Focus” to “Epic Movie Soundtracks.”
I even detoured to YouTube to test out “10 Hours of Rain in a Cozy Cabin”
Eventually, I found the perfect vibe... felt super relaxed... but hadn’t opened the presentation file yet.
Procrastination + Music Lover = The Ultimate Escape Combo
Stress drinking a Diet Coke, and then running to get another can when a new job comes in lol
When I get overwhelmed or need a brain break, I tend to organize ... anything. This includes closets, paperwork, rooms, Chrome bookmarks, rearranging dashboard widgets, the list goes on! Because of that, sometimes that ends up being more of a procrastination method for what I am supposed to actually be doing!
Go for a walk outside instead of reviewing tasks
I couln't get to work until I adjust my monitor angle perfectly, later I've found out it was my brother (who works with me) pranking me messing with my monitor adjustments when I was out of my desk.
Procrastinated on writing a speech until the day before ... I decided I should organize my email because that didn't need to be done at the moment. LOL
I had an early meeting with senior management once, but Wrikey Dog had other plans, he crashed the meeting and turned it into a surprise playdate. We all ended up discussing strategy along with Wrikey Dog.
I've had many times when I have to make a coffee or tea first so I can focus and fully get into the task but then I think I need a snack with this and then I need the perfect playlist...
