[Wrike Labs Release] AI Subtask Creation ๐ค
Hi Community ๐
We are very excited to announce the release of AI Subtask Creation in Wrike Labs ๐ฅ
What is AI Subtask Creation?
AI Subtask Creation is a new experimental Wrike platform capability based on machine learning (ML) technology and natural language processing that allows you to easily create subtasks from your taskโs description. It is one more smart feature of ourย Wrikeโs Work Intelligenceโข suite. ย
Meeting notes are a prime example of how you can use AI Subtask Creation to drive unstructured work forward. This brand new AI feature automatically sifts through unstructured meeting notes that you keep in a Wrike task description and extracts key action items in the form of subtasks.ย
Itโs possible to use this functionality for a variety of situations outside meeting notes as well. If you would like to add additional action items or context to an external email, Slack message, document, or a request submitted via a Wrike Request Form, you can copy and paste the supplemental details into your Wrike task, and have our AI handle subtask generation and structuring. It takes seconds to translate an email from a client into a set of changes required for a client project. When the project manager brings some notes from a Slack conversation into the Wrike task, smart AI makes sure it becomes a list of structured steps to act upon with the project team.
In a nutshell, with AI Subtask Creation, you can quickly convert your meeting minutes, documents, checklists, and much more, into subtasks of your current task. This means no more notes in emails, chats, or meetings are left behind - they can now be turned into action items in a couple of clicks.ย
How to Use AI Subtask Creation?
To start creating subtasks automatically, simply highlight the relevant text in the task description to see these two new buttons:
1. The first button enables simple subtask creation from each line of text. It can be useful for structured text, like checklists, meeting notes, etc. After creating subtasks, the corresponding text in the description will be updated with permalinks to the subtasks created.
2. The second new button is for the smart AI subtask creation. It uses machine learning algorithms to analyze the highlighted text and finds only actionable items. It works with unstructured text in the English language and identifies sentences that look like tasks, based on certain criteria. You can use it for emails, messages, documents, or slides. You can highlight a full task description or choose only a certain part of the text to help the algorithm. Please note that some more complicated sentences may not be recognized.
You can take it further with Wrikeโs document processing functionality on Wrike for iOS or Wrike for Android. Take a shot of a document or notes with your phone, then let our Machine Learning technology recognize it via a Wrike Mobile App, quickly add these notes to the task description section and the AI Subtask Creation will convert them into actions ๐
How to Enable AI Subtask Creation?
Start using the brand new AI Subtask Creation functionality by enabling it in Wrike Labs.ย
The team plans to improve this functionality and introduce more smart features that will help you easily create, assign, and complete tasks.ย
Weโd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped us beta test this feature ๐ค We really appreciate your help!

Hi Lisa,
I love this new functionality.
Is there any option to create task with some useful info. I mean, it would be amazing if I create a list of tasks like:
myemail@yourbiz.it - Test Task - 13/07/2022
collegueemail@yourbiz.it - Task 3 - 14/07/2022
myemail@yourbiz.it - Test Task 4 - 15/07/2022
collegueemail@yourbiz.it - Task 5 - 18/07/2022
And wrike create 4 different tasks assigned to each email and planned as the date I wrote in list.
ย
thanks

Our team loves this feature but the only limitation is that the subtasks are created in the Default Workflow where the folder it's being created in is set to default to a specific Custom Workflow, so they have to manually update the workflow on ALL the subtasks that are created.ย This is different from when you manually create a subtask and it does automatically use the Custom Workflow set on the folder.ย Wanted to let you know.
That's great feedback, thank you for sharing Meredith Selden ๐

Love this feature! Are you able to give more direction as to what the AI looks for when looking for actionable items in text? I've been experimenting with it and it seems a bit finicky but I think I could make better use of it if I understood how it interprets content. Thank you!
Playing with this some more it seems like starting a sentence with a verb and using a period between items works best. ie. Instead of "we need to create a first draft, then get it reviewed by team." use "Create first draft. Review by team." When I had commas between thoughts it didn't differentiate between them. Thanks!
Roisin O'Reilly Thank you! You're right, more simple sentences that begin with verbs work well with this AI functionality. The team is also working on making it work better for more complicated text ๐

Great feature!ย How do you UNDO if the AI creates something you don't want?ย I do see the UNDO popup, but as soon as I begin to review the results, that goes away.ย Might be nice to have a more persistent UNDO link or button in the header.
Hi zzzPeter Barron, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, I'm passing it on to our team๐๐ผ
Where can I find this feature now?
ย
Hi Karen Quiros! It's now available to all accounts, you can access it the same way - highlight text in the description and you'll see two buttons for simple subitem creation and for AI subitem creation.ย
