[Status: Not planned] Project/Folder Dependencies
Hello,
Something that I would be useful would be the ability to assign project/folder dependencies. Example:
Project: SQL Server Update
Folder: Reporting Rework (Depends upon completion of entire SQL Server Update project)
Task: Create XYZ report (Depends upon completion of SQL Server Update as a whole)
I hope that makes sense, basically just taking Dependencies and expanding them so they can be on projects/folder and also so that an assigned dependency can point to a Project/Folder.
Regards,
Colby
Hiya
Just to doubble check: It is NOT POSSIBlE to build cross-project dependencies in WRIKE (meaning: dependencies between different projects either in the same folder/space or between different sub-projects within one project)?
Not being able to show dependencies across different workflows (projects/subproject etc) is actually a deal breaker.
Thanks!
You are correct, Fedon Moog, but let's check for possible workarounds on connecting projects with dependencies with our Support team. I'm raising a ticket for you now and I'll post back here if there's a way 👍

Just checking in on this feature. I have placed my vote, but want to remind the Wrike team how important and crucial this project is to create.
I second that, Donna Goodwin. My organization is requesting this frequently.
Hey everyone! I don't have any updates from the Product team on this at the moment, but here's a workaround our Support team recommends using in the meantime in case you find it useful:
Here are the links that explain the Timeline view, how to set up dependencies between tasks, and how to add milestones to your projects:
https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/articles/210323585-Gantt-Chart-Timeline-Overview-
https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/articles/209604229-Dependencies-on-the-Timeline-View-
https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/articles/210323565-Milestones-on-the-Timeline-View-
You can start by building up all the dependencies between tasks in each project you are working on. When this is done, any change to one task's duration or its start or end date will automatically push all the dependent tasks as well, thus the schedule for the project will auto-adjust.
Then, you can connect the last task from the previous project with the first task of the next project, thus all the tasks in all the projects would have dependencies set up and when even a single task in the chain is changed, all other tasks will reschedule as well and this means that Projects also reschedule automatically.

Project dependencies would be a huge win for our team as well. Please look into this.
+1 project dependencies
Thank you for your feedback Marius Sheamus Berg, Aaron!

Project/Sub-Project dependencies would be a maaaaassive help to our team and how it works. We typically have a project with many sub-projects underneath, all of which run in a specific order/sequence and whose timing is interconnected with the timing and status of the other sub-projects.
Thanks a lot for letting us know your feedback, Peter Elliott!

AGREED! It's especially helpful when road-mapping long-term strategies.
Hi again, everyone! The team doesn't have an update here due to other planned improvements, including the Table View improvements planned for this year. I'll continue to pass on your feedback and the vote count here. Thank you for letting us know your thoughts here!

I would also love to have this feature in Wrike, I hope it doens't take much longer for us to have it, I'm sure no one will complain about it, quite the opposite

Surprised this is not already part of Wrike for all the reasons mentioned above.

This would be so helpful to our workflow!
Yes - this would be a fantastic feature. Right now we are making global dependency timelines separately in LucidChart in order to tlak to Stakeholders. Being able to visualize this in Wrike would be amazing.
I agree, this would be a fantastic addition to our workspace.
Thanks for adding your feedback here folks. It's been noted and shared with the team.
As Cansu mentioned above, if we do have any updates to share in relation to this suggestion, we'll be sure to let you know here 👍

I also call for the introduction of the possibility to insert dependency relations between different projects and between tasks and projects. This is essential for the management of complex projects! It would also be essential to make the breakdown of a complex project into its phases, processes, sub-projects, work packages and deliverables more structured and hierarchical. This would be possible by giving the user the possibility of managing presets of characteristics associated with the level of breakdown and inserting WBS coding.
Welcome to the Community Paolo Ischia, and thank you for supporting this suggestion!

We also urgently need dependencies between projects. We have several projects that cannot start before another project is finished. So if the first project is delayed, the start of the second one needs to be postponed automatically.
Thank you for sharing your use case and feedback here Hannes Zehrer. I've made our Product team aware of it.
