[Status: Not planned] Hide comments in project shared with collaborators
Hello,
One feature that is sadly missing for our team is the possibility to have internal communication Inside project shared with our client (collaborator license). Indeed, it's not possible to hide comments or have unshared tasks in projects that are shared with clients.
If you have any suggestion to bypass this, it would be appreciated :)
Hi, I too want to be able to hide comments from collaborators without having to create subfolders or create another separate workflow. Is there now an option to mark the message as private so only internal users can see and collaborators can't?
Having the ability to use internal comments is key for creating one threat with all communication centralized. Creating separate tickets is a work around, but not the way to go. Even having the ability for a secondary comment field which is aimed internally would be already good, as long as it shows up appropriately in the issue.
So for us it is crucial having such a function in place, where we do see this available in other tools.
Hey everyone, thank you for all of your input here. It's been passed on to the Product team.
I don't have an update for you at the moment, but as soon as I do, I'll let you know.
We really could do with seeing this added to the product soon - it's a big shortfall and is preventing us from using Wrike with our clients as collaborators - which we really want to do!
Hi Jon Moakes,
Thank you for sharing this feedback! I've passed this on to the Product team. No update here at the moment; I'll be sure to keep you posted on any new information about this suggestion. If you need anything else, feel free to reach out at any time.
Wow, I had forgot all about this request. Disappointing to see it's still in the 'not planned' state especially considering how much time my project teams put into preparing status updates for customers.
Literally hours of wasted effort every week across our entire project set because we want to keep internal communications separate.
Sorry for the late reply here, Michael Cassils! I'm sorry to hear you're disappointed. I've checked this with the team again, and they do have plans for customizing user permissions in Wrike that might help with the Collaborators' permissions and access. THere's no ETA for this currently, so I'll let you know once I have an update from the team.

Please add me to the up vote list. An "internal note" (as it's called in Zendesk) is something that needs to be in Wrike ASAP at the task level (i.e. the internal note is tied to the specific task)! Please... this thread has been open for 3.5 years!!
Thank you for your feedback Tod Bassler! I'm checking with the team now to see if there's an update, and I'll let you know here if there is one.

Hi everyone! I've spoken with the team, and for now, they aren't planning to work on this due to other planned enhancements. THank you for your feedback and support here, I will continue to bring up this topic internally.

Dear all,
I just tried to solve this issue by creating private subtasks only for private comments (because duplicating a task to a different space is weird) as recommended by Stephanie Westbrook at the beginning of this thead. By the way her link to inherited sharing is invalid, so here's the right one: https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/articles/1500005219462-Selective-Sharing.
But I had to recognize that slective sharing is only available for enterprise users. That's quite bad, as you need that high costly licence for a workaround. :-(
So dear wrike team, would you mind implementing a very small option in your highly developed system to hide some bad comments from innocent collaborators? 😁
By the way: Thanks for your work, I'm still loving wrike! 😍
Florian
Thank you for weighing in here Florian Kislich! 👍 Although this is currently not planned by the team, unfortunately, I'll be passing on your feedback and I'll share an update here when I have one.

OP has 73 likes on the request. This is a core function; if you are going to have an option for collaborators, you should know that they often come from external sources, ot within the company. Notes and user info (name and email) should have permissions control for admin.
Hello Mitch Proulx, welcome to the Community 👋🏻
Thank you for posting and sharing your thoughts here! I've made aware our Product team of your additional feedback on Collaborator access. I'll be sure to post here if there are any updates in relation to this suggestion 🙋🏻♀️

I have upvoted this too. Wrike, it has been 4 YEARS now and all you have done is 'made the product team' aware of this. Call me a skeptic but I don't think anyone actually cares about this feature at Wrike.
Thank you for supporting the idea here Max Matacchioni! I understand that it is disappointing. Here's an article where we explain what happens with Product Feedback, please check it out for more detail on how we work with the product suggestions.
Please let me know if I can help you with anything else.

Hi Lisa do you have a link to the Wrike development roadmap, it would be interesting to see what improvements are in the pipeline.
Max Matacchioni Wrike doesn't provide a public roadmap at the moment, but I'd suggest checking out our Betas & More forum to see the posts from our Product team on what they are researching currently.

Yea. It’s pretty ridiculous that you can’t comment private to a project manager about specifics on a task and you’re required to make another task, and copy/paste comments then later still try to manage that task as well, while you could easily send a private message to a specific person or group related to project .. either hiding from clients or other employees to keep performance and efficiency high. I’m thinking to switch to another solution, even tho it’s such a pain to

Hi Anthony Tareh, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and feedback.
We're always open to hearing your thoughts and concerns about the functionality since it helps us prioritize requests and learn about what's important to the Community. While we can't deliver on all requests right away, we do take note of what's important to you.
If you’d like, I can also notify your Wrike Expert of your concerns and have them reach out to you to discuss how we can better address your needs. Please let me know if you would like for me to arrange this.

Hi Wrike - We also really need this to be able to have internal comments on our tasks that our collaborators (clients) can not see. We use this as project management tool and our clients need to see this but we also use it internally for our development cycles. Comments should be just for ourselves internally, or for everyone, or even to someone specific by tagging them.
We have only just started evaluating Wrike as a platform but this is a huge stumbling block for us.
Would this not be a quick win in terms of a new feature to add?
Hi Michael Sowa, welcome to the Community 👋
I totally understand your feedback, thank you for sharing it! The current workarounds for this are either disabling Inherited Sharing to create private tasks or subtasks for internal discussions that is possible for Enterprise accounts' users or having two different projects running in parallel - one for internal work and discussions and the other for sharing with your clients. I hope they can help!

Coming in to wake this thread back up and say it would be TRULY ideal if Collaborators or External Users could have the ability to see comments toggled on and off.
Thanks a lot for supporting this suggestion and sharing your feedback Raven Shutley!

Unfortunately I was told that someone would only see a comment if I @ mentioned them..... I found out this was wrong the hard way.......... Any update on this?
Hi Jo Lamond, welcome to the Community 👋 I think your question is outside of the original suggestion here, but I'm happy to help. Indeed, @mentions show up in Inbox, that's why it's important to do that when you're having a discussion. It's also possible to set up email notifications so that they are sent to your email when someone comments in a task assigned to you or created by you or the one that you follow without @mentioning. You can find more info about this in this article. Also, please let me know if you have any additional questions.
