Have subtasks inherit status from parent

Hi,

Does anyone have a way to get subtasks to "inherit" their status from their parent task? For example:

  • We have a parent task that's a T-Shirt with status "In Development"
  • and subtasks representing each size available for that t-shirt
  • We want the status of the sizes to always match the status of the T-shirt parent task.

Hi Meghan,

you can achieve this using automation.

Have you tried it?

I did start here. Doesn't this change the parent item based on changes to the sub items? I'm looking for a way to change the sub items based on the parent.

Pietro Poli Where is this automation button located? I do not see it in my space! Thanks!

Hi Meghan

I believe that what you are trying to do is not feasible today as it is "conceptually not in line" with the logic of tasks and subtasks.

That is, subtasks are an integral part of the parent task, so it makes more sense to terminate the various subtasks and then declare the parent task closed, rather than vice versa.

Lea Labastida , you can find the automations in the setting menu
