Filter to distinguish tasks vs. subtasks desperately needed

There should be a filter to that will will select only parent tasks (i.e. not subtasks).  Or, better yet, can filter by task "level".

For example, if I want to generate a dashboard showing all "in process" tasks, excluding subtasks, I should be able to do that without some type of hacked solution where the subtasks have a different property that has been manually added/altered.

I believe this is related to the "Filter out subtasks in reports" request, which appears to have been put on the backburner, despite having quite an extensive conversation.  This is somewhat different because it has to do with creating dashboards, and affects the everyday use of the tool.

I am happy to discuss further and explain why I think this is absolutely essential.

I designate parent task w/a custom field but this a great suggestion nonetheless.

Yes please!  Sometimes I have to create an Analyze Board so I can use the Depth Level filter and display a quick list of tasks (with additional data about the tasks).  Wish this were an option in standard Filters for Tasks.

Serious bump on this. If you perform any kind of task organization with child/parent tasks (which seems like all users would do?) you need to be able to filter out just the lowest child task regardless of what kind of parent tasks/categories the child task lives under.

+1 for this much-needed filter!!!!! Adding it to Dashboards would be phenomenal - that's where I need it the most.

For example, I'm trying to build a dashboard for a tradeshow. I want a widget that shows the list of deliverables requested from the Creative team. I would like to see this as a pie chart by status so I can quickly see how many tasks the team has left to finish. I can't even get the list/table view option in the widget to just show parent tasks.

I would like to use Wrike out-of-the-box as much as possible. Creating a custom item type adds more complexity, and I don't want to have to create a custom field to designate parent tasks. Too much extra overhead. :(

Currently, this isn't on the roadmap for this year due to other priorities taking precedence. If there's any progress in the coming months, we'll be sure to let you know.
