Calculated Fields for Request Forms
Hi,
Coming from working with another product (Workfront), I was wondering if similar capabiltiies were possible with request forms.
Specifically, I'm looking to be able to use calculated fields in custom forms so that if the user selects a certain item, another field can pop up or be triggered based on the selection.
For example, we have several types of marketing pieces being requested of us to create. Based on the type of piece they select, I'd like different options to show up for them to fill out.
Ex. IF "Image Re-size" is selected, THEN "Image Dimensions" to appear. This field would not be needed for say, a video request as it is not relevant to that type of piece. Workfront basically used logic similar to Excel to make this work, (i.e. If/Then statements with custom fields)
Currently, the only solve for this is making a form for each type of asset. This is not currently realistic as there are 20+ assets which can also be combinations or multiple assets.
Hi Lauren Ortiz-Townsend, happy to see you here on the Community! 🙂
Thank you for posting a suggestion! There are conditional follow-up questions available with Wrike's dynamic request forms. Hope you don't mind if I paste a description here from our Help Center article:
Conditional Follow-Up Questions
Designate which questions should be asked next, when the respondent selects a specific dropdown option.
Repeat steps 3-5 until you’ve added all necessary pages and questions. Click the “Add action” button to add other conditional branching actions to the same option, if necessary. When you’re finished making changes to your form, click “Publish” or “Save”.
Please let me know if that helps!

Hi Lisa,
Thank you for your suggestion, but this does not solve my issue.
I've already investigated these options and they do not work for what I am trying to do. Redirecting to another project or form won't work here. We're trying to get different fields to show up based on the selection. While I could possibly add those fields to the re-directed form, I would still end up making an additional 20+ pages on a form which does not make sense. Additionally, this option is only available for the drop-down option. I also needed it for the checkboxes option as well.
Hi Lauren Ortiz-Townsend, thank you for getting back to me! I can see now why the suggested flow doesn't fit into your use-case. I'll be passing your feedback to the team shortly and I'll let you know when I have any updates from them.

I am trying to design an application form requesting external users to enter data from dropdown boxes and experiencing the same issues noted above in that I would like the facility for users to select a dropdown item which then directs them to the next level of detail required based on their selection. Has there been any progress in that function as yet?
Hi KS, thanks for reaching out! You can set it up so that users choose an option from the dropdown and then get redirected to a different form page with particular follow-up questions depending on the dropdown option they've chosen. Could you please let me know what issues you are experiencing with this? Thanks!

Hi Lisa,
My problem is similar to others in that directing to another page would make my form too bulky as there would be several pages to navigate for responders and we want to encourage use with a simple process on just one or two pages in total. I expect some external form users would opt out if additional navigation between pages was required. I prefer selection from an obvious drop down that both looks and is easy to complete.
Hi KS, thank you for the further clarification and the use case here. It's been passed on to the Product team.
Hello!
I'd like to follow up on this use case and add another.
I'm finding more and more the need for a calculated field that can be set and then used for a further calculation.
Example: If we are trying to calculate Business Value for our team, we would use the following formula: (Client + Asset Type) = Business Value
So if my client, for example were ABC Company and we rated them as a 5 meaning most important and then the asset type they wanted was an email, which is a pretty low-value marketing item like a 1, our business value for this project would be 6 out of 10.
I'm trying to get wrike to calculate this automatically in a field in the form based on what is selected when the form is submitted.
Has there been any further progress on developing calculated fields?
Thank you for providing more feedback Lauren Ortiz-Townsend! I'm checking with the team now and I'll let you know as soon as I hear from them 👍

Hi Lauren Ortiz-Townsend, the team has confirmed that there aren't any plans for this currently.
I know that this will come as disappointing news, but just because it's not happening now, it doesn't mean that this feature will never be rolled out. Please do continue to share your feedback and insights on this with us here and we'll pass them on to the team 👍
If anything changes in relation to this request we'll be sure to let you know.
