Sub-Task Board View
Currently, you can't see Sub-Tasks split out at the "Board" view. They are rolled up into the parent task. The reasoning I was given is that subtasks don't live in the space or project they are created, but rather within the task itself and they are given a "ghost tag" to help you identify where the parent task is.
The work around provided to me by Wrike is to go in and tag the space/project and it will show up then. While this works, it isn't convenient and adds (what I believe to be) unnecessary steps. Based on my experience with other similar project management boards, tasks and sub tasks are visible on the board automatically and you can filter out tasks from sub tasks if you want to just see one or the other.
I see little to any need to use "ghost tags" to fulfill this need. We should be able to see all tasks and sub tasks on a board to better understand where ALL tasks are in the workflow. We shouldn't have to jump through hoops to make this happen.

I'm liking this feature proposal!
Indeed, when we want to divide the work of a larger task into multiple tasks & assign each task to the right person, it's now completely unclear what the status is of each task in the board itself.
Why have a board overview, when you have to open each task-with-subtask to see if anything is being blocked, assigned to me, ready for testing etc?
I tried the workaround, and the subtasks show up in the board, but with no text or link for one to understand that it is a subtasks... and the original parent task is still shown containing 4 subtasks... quoite annoying and unfriendly.
the subtasks of a task should be possible to see (and hide) in board view by "expanding" or similar (like in list view)
Very related (https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360012643334-Tasks-and-subtasks)
Hi Tomas Bäckman, may I ask if you've had the chance to try the new Board view? It gives you the opportunity to hide and expand the subtasks. You can find more information about it here. Please let me know if it helps🙋🏻♀️
Hi @... No I have not yet but will soon, thx!
Just following up on this... is there a timeline for adding the function to "expand sub-tasks" on the board? For an example of how it works, I found Clickup does it.... but, the software is a little glitchy compared to Wrike. So, I'd hold off implementing if Wrike is on it and there is a timeline.
Hi Shane Powell, the new Board View is still a developing feature and we appreciate feedback like this! The team is aware of this suggestion and we'll be sure to let you know of any updates or changes.
Please, add this feature!
I have tried the new board and even though i can see the subtask I cannot track the subtask independently, if i move one subtask to "completed" the parent task and all move to "complete". I am treating the task as a business requirement with the subtasks as the way to complete them and assign different people to accomplice the subtasks and want to track their progress independently. If I raise the requirements to a project level I cannot set a priority between requirements (unless I am missing something). End-of-the-day please add this!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for sharing your feedback on the new Board view Doug Chapman, I'll now send it on to the responsible Product team 👍

Any update to be able to track sub-tasks independently in the board view?
Would be great to be able to have the option to break out sub-tasks to separate tasks in the board view.
Hi Sarah Ekstrand welcome to the Community! Thank you for your comment, you can achieve these in New Dashboards when selecting the flat list mode:
Could this information be of help?
I've shared your feedback about the Board view with our Product Team and we will keep you updated if there are any changes regarding this suggestion.
Looking forward to your reply. Thank you!
Hi Juan,
Thank you for the feedback. But boards (e.g. Kanban) and dashboard are two different things?
Kind regards,
Sarah
Hi Sarah Ekstrand! They are different, and Juan mentioned new dashboards because it's possible to see subtasks separately there, and we are wondering whether using the dashboards instead of the board view could work for you 🙂

Hi Sarah,
I would appreciate it if I could see the subtasks in the board view. As I am planning several projects in the space and would like to use the board in each project seperately. The dashboard relates to the entire space, so it is not possible to provide each project its own Kanban list. The parent task restricts me in the processing of tasks, as I have the subtasks in different statuses
Kind regards
Lucas
Hi Lucas Linek, welcome to the Community! When creating a New Dashboard, you can choose the data source to be a project of folder, instead of the whole Space:
I hope this helps!
Having the same problem - could you provide timeline for when it will be possible to expand subtasks in board?
Hi Trine Norris, welcome to the Community! Thank you for voicing your interest in this suggestion, please feel free to upvote it, in case you haven't yet. You can check how we process feedback in this article.
I'm afraid that this idea is a bit far from the 60 votes threshold to receive a public status, let hope more users will continue adding their votes for this one 🤞 Although we don't have updates on this feature at the moment, I'd like to mention that you can use New Dashboards and select the flat list mode to see subtasks separated from their parent task.
Lastly, please feel free to check our New to Community forum post to get the most out of your experience in our Community 🙂
I would also like to see a Sub-Tasks split out at the "Board" view. I now follow this thread and I'm very curious if and how this is being resolved in the future.
Hi,
The same here. Actually we would like to have the flexibility of showing only tasks which are useful to see by performers while they don't need to see all what is around. Indeed the goal of using the board for us (and not the dashboard which is more for global transparency of status) is to use the easy drag and drop functionality to change status of set of tasks as a perfomer or during stand-ups.
Therefore it is needed to see sub-tasks independently, and enable this drag and drop option.
Has any new development happened in regard to the conversation on subtasks being viewable on Board view. I'd like to have different Board View options pending the team (using the filter function) but also be able to view all projects on one Board View. The problem is if I filter to one group only the parent task will show with no way to show subtasks. If I filter on show all Active tasks, then all the projects show when I only want to see one group. However, in this view I can see the 1st level of subtasks. The goal here is to see all subtasks to the 3rd or 4th level. I need for the user that finishes a task to change the status on the next task to let the next user know it is ready.

this makes Kanban unmanageable in Wrike and Scrum also unmanageable for any significant project.

Hi,
I have the same concern. This lack of flexibility is a shame.
Why can't we have the same option as in Table view => display as a "Single list of task" and then filter out by workflow
Hi, Checking if any progress was made or planned on showing subtasks in thew board view. The "show subitems" is realy not practical. we could have a large number of subtasks under certain and need to track their execution. Currently the board view is not practical for this purpose.
When will sub-tasks view be available in board?
Thanks everyone for sharing your feedback here 🙏
We don’t have anything new to announce right now, but we’ll check with our Product team for any developments. If something moves forward, we’ll update this thread.

Adding the need for subtasks to be shown as their own individual cards - is there another thread where this can be upvoted?
Many of my sub-item tasks are assigned to different individuals on the team and there is no way for them to see these tasks broken out in "Board" view - even when filtered or grouped to just their work. This view is seemingly useless unless you have a flat project schedule or find some highly manual workaround (which PM's typically don't have ample amounts of free time to create manual workarounds). Its highly disappointing as some of the main purposes of using Kanban boards is to drive efficiency, increase visibility and allow for faster delivery of work. The board view in its current state does the opposite.
I agree with Constant Biblocque above - Implementing the Table view option - "single list of tasks" - to the Board view would be a GAME CHANGER, and Wrike has this functionality developed. It's hard to understand why it cannot be extended to be used in the "Board" view, especially as its been asked about for more than 7 years. Has it at least been added to the backlog?
