[Status: Launched! ๐] Job Roles in Reports
The new job role function is a really useful feature that needs to be more readily available in different areas of Wrike. It is only possible to use this feature in individual tasks and in the workload view but not in reports, dashboards or anywhere else. In order to predict and plan resource against capacity in future, it would be great to be able to pull Job Roles into reports the same way we can assignees.ย
Thank you!ย And .... please, please, please add to the Analyze Reporting as well!ย ๐
Thank you Meredith Selden, we'll be sure to update you if there are any additional updates/releases๐
Hi there, hi @...
I just joined this community with the requirement mentioned here: I simply want to plan projects based on JobRoles in the longrun and once the project gets into implementation step by step tasks will be re-assigned to specific team members. But how do I see longterm resource forcast and feedback on feasiblity from a resource perspective? It sounds like it was implemented, but I cannot find a suitable report for this request.
Hi Raimund Dienst, may I ask if you have tried using our Workload Charts?ย
Hi @...,
thank you for your question. I'm trying to use Workload Charts, but cann't find the information I'm looking for.
1. Indepentend Workload Chart: I create a new Workload Chart and need to add people there (either single names or groups) -> I can cluster people based on their job role, but I do not see the forecast a job role.
2. Workload Chart of one project: I cann see job role as separate item, do have a red indication on overload but no understanding about the level of overload or even level of free capacity.
3. Workload Chart of a folder with more than 1 project: equals step 2. And even more: adding one single task, assigning to a job role and exceeding the total amount of available hours from all person having this job role, it is not indicating red in the folder-based workload chart.
This says job roles are available in reports, but I can only get roles to appear in a report if no assignees are selected. Is there a way to select a combination of users and roles in the report filters?
For example, I would like to include a group of engineers, then the role of "Engineer" so that the sum of assigned and unassigned hours of engineering work is in one report. (Basic headcount forecasting)
Can "Roles" be aded to the list of "Assignees" as available in other parts of Wrike?
Hi @..., could you please clarify "but I do not see the forecast a job role" are you looking to see the time available? For the second and third points, I'll pass on your feedback to our team.
Hi Justin Fuller, unfortunately, no. Job Roles are visible when the Report is grouped by โAssigneesโ, see a screenshot below:
The "Developer" and "Engineers" placeholders as job roles.
Job Roles were not previously shown when grouping by โAssigneesโ, therefore, they have never been a separate grouping option.ย
@...
Sure - thanks for your follow up. Let me use a modified screenshot with yellow marks for explaination:
At (1) you can see an overbooking of my Project Manager 6. This is also indicated by the red dot (3) in the job role line. I even see, that I should have plenty of project managers to jump in and solve the conflict (3).
At (2) I am missing the information you can see in 1st screenshot: The overbooking of Project Manager 6 is caused, among others, by Task 3.1. But this task would need additional 141h on the same days. Instead of this conflict (2) shows up 24h of free capacity instead of 117h overbooking for all project managers.

Hi @..., I asked my colleagues from the Support team to reach out and I see that they are already in touch with you. Please let me know if I can help you with anything else!
Thanks Cansu,
I could solve my request using the Backlog Box in horizontal mode, grouping workload charts by job role and maintaining groups and job role simultaneously. Creating workload charts based on groups they are up to date on organizational changes right away.
Hi Wrike team,
Having Job Roles in filters is important as a feature, It will help reduce tons of work for the team to plan future tasks, currently, we have to apply a lot of time to have proper planning reports done.
Thank you for sharing your feedback here Himanshu Bhatt ๐ค

Is there any progress on this? we have been waiting for this enhancement since long
ย
job roles are still not available as a assignee filter in reports, when can we have that?
Job roles really really need to be available in the Assignee filter in reports. Cannot overstate this enough. Will look for this feature request and upvote it if it exists, will create a new one if I can't find it.ย
Use case... we have a large, complex project we're stubbing out (will become a blueprint when we finish it), where every task is assigned to a job role. We need appropriate folks to provide duration estimates for just their pieces, for folks who don't have Wrike access. So, I tried to create a report for each of them showing all of the tasks for their role, but I can't filter on job role, which means I can't create the report snapshots I need to send to these resources.ย
I know I can work around this by tagging the tasks to a specific folder, or creating a custom field, etc... my point is that I shouldn't have to create this extra work/noise. I should be able to filter my report by job role assignee.
Thanks a lot for detailed feedback here Laura Boylan! I'm passing it on to our Product team ๐

How can I view job roles in a report or create a report to show tasks assigned to job roles?ย
Or, is there a simple answer to, "How can I see everything assigned to a role?". Using the workload view has been very difficult as well. It becomes laggy and difficult to use and it is not easy to filter only for certain roles.ย
I just want to see all the tasks assigned to a "Business Analyst" so that I can assign them to my team easily. Or plan for the effort needed in the future.ย
Hey Shawn Collins, looks like you've discussed this with our Support team ๐

Hi Lisa, Yes. I was able to see all tasks assigned to a role through dashboards. In the dashboard, you can apply a filter for a Role, and that worked for me. I sort of have to filter backlog boxes in the workload and the dashboards to get what I need, but it will do for now. I could still use the filter in reports, but this is ok for now.ย
Thanks a lot for posting this workaround here Shawn Collins ๐

Lisa I tried the workaround with the new dashboard and I could not find the JobRoles in Filtering. In the classic dashboard I was able to filter for the JobRole. Does the new dashboard not support this? Then the work around for JobRoles does not work anymore.
When I transfer an existing dashboard (classic) to new dashboard the filter persists. But only till you open the edit menu for the widget. Then the filter for the jobrole is gone after saving.
Sven, new dashboards are still in the Labs and are being improved daily based on the feedback we are getting. We'll bring back the filter by job role relatively soon, but it's not available yet and we recommend staying on classic dashboards in that case.ย
