Don't worry everybody, they fixed it. By changing everything again and making us click 7x more times to do the same amount of work.

Great, another forced interface change (I'm sorry, not an interface, an experience - give me a break)....for a tool I use to get work done. I don't want to spend time re-learning how to get things done. I don't want extra clicks between me and the tools I was already using.

I don't want the interface to change every 18 months at the whim of some designers.

I don't want to have to spend time providing feedback instead of doing real work.

Hi, I too landed here after heading down a Rabbit Hole like Joshua on page 1 of this thread. Copying his text here for clarity:

Hello, I landed here by following a very old thread about hiding dependent tasks from the "My Work" view when the tasks they are dependent upon are not finished. Will this new "Smart Folder" feature solve this issue? 

For example, we use BluePrints to automatically assign tasks for common types of work. A simple flow might be Copywriting > Design > Editing. The way things work now, all three tasks show up as work to be done in "My Work," even though Design and Editing cannot be worked on until Copywriting is finished. It's very frustrating for our team to have our My Work and Dashboards cluttered with tasks that cannot actually be worked on because they are dependent on something else being finished first.

I hope that makes sense and that this change will address this issue. Thanks!

Soooo... can I please have clarification if this issue has been solved?

Is it now possible to have dependent tasks not show up "to do" until previous task has been completed?

(or even better, ability to switch "visibility" on/off so if it suited the situation we could even choose to have future tasks invisible to users until previous task completed, or invisible until a certain date etc. A task list that is hundreds of tasks long (common in many of our bigger long-term projects) can be daunting to see, even demotivating, at times)

Is this functionality already implemented and these threads just haven't been updated, or if not, where is this issue currently on the roadmap?

Thanks and hoping for a positive response as this "users overwhelmed by endless list of things they cannot yet work on" is frustrating both me and my team and causing resistance to wrike from my team :(

Angela Kennewell I doubt it. What you're describing sounds super useful, but Wrike seems to believe we need to bend our workflows to fit their interface (which they keep updating without fixing existing and easily reproducible bugs).

Alexander Numann I seriously cannot believe this thread is still going. 😂 Sorry, I shouldn't laugh. But man, I feel your pain.

The roadmap and UX handbook at Wrike must look like somebody dropped a bowl of spaghetti.

The frustration that their methodology around updates and lack of concern or care for their user base is appalling.

I switched to Asana a few years ago because of it and honestly, it wasn't that bad to switch at all. . .since my joining, I am constantly blown away at the new features they are always implementing, it's becoming so much more powerful. . .and wait for it. . .they do all this without impacting the epic good functionality of the existing platform.

Asana actually care about their users and the User experience. Please for your own sake - go and give it a go. I ran both in tandem for a little while, it was a bit of extra work, but no more heartache. It's such good platform and not expensive at all. 👍

And no I don't work for Asana. . .I just came to hate Wrike - they really did a number on everybody. . .and it would appear, continue to do so. They don't deserve their users.

First, thanks a lot for your continued feedback, and please rest assured we report it back to the team as always. At the moment, the widget works as described by you, and I don't have an update for this functionality, in particular for the dependent tasks showing up on them. Our team is currently focused on enhancing dashboards in Wrike, and we'll be keeping you posted on the updates when we have them. I'm hoping that you'll find the improvements planned by our team for next year useful for your experience with Wrike.

Does *anyone* commenting here actually use dashboards? I sure as heck don't...

I wish Wrike would focus on fixing bugs (I have several over a year old), or working on things the users actually want.

Yes, we use dashboards extensively.

i can also see how they might be invaluable for numerous kinds of teams doing work in different fields as well, especially anyone doing "pass-the-task-along-a-chain" type multi-stage work, and for managers overseeing such chains.

Dashboards give really great at-a-glance visualisation of the various stages tasks are in through a flow.
Just as an example of one thing dashboards kick butt at for us, over other possible view types.

Sorry to hear they don't help your own workflow Alexander but can definitely put a big yes vote for dashboards here in answer to your question.
