[Status: Launched ๐] Roll up effort in project report
We need a report that rolls up all effort hours on the project in a project report so that when we are doing our market manager and sprint hours planning meetings we can show the number of hours that are in planning/ready to assign/etc. Currently, we can see the durations roll up but not effort. Ideally we would then be able to use the rolled up effort hours and a calculation field to determine the marketing usage percent by market.ย
Hi Kelly, thanks for posting!
Do you mind if I move your post to the Product Feedback section so that others could vote for your suggestion?

Hi Lisa, did this get moved?ย I'd like to upvote it.ย It looks like projects have little effort applied to them when that's untrue.ย Effort is just buried under subtasks, which doesn't help my team, myself, or management.ย Thanks!
Hi @Ami, I've just moved it, it's in Product Feedback now. Thanks for bumping up this thread ๐

What is the status of this request?
Hi Lisa, is this feature likely to get implemented soon?
Hey everyone!
Once this post reaches 60 upvotes then we'll be able to give a status update on this suggestion. You can read more about our process here.
Hope this helps! If you have any other questions let me know ๐
Do you have a mechanism where users can vote on proposed improvements? I can't say I'm keen nor have the time to go looking through the various threads to vote on improvements.
Hi Dave Salter! You can try searching for something that you'd like to be implemented, and you'll be able to see rather quickly whether there's already a similar suggestion on the forum.ย

@ Lisa -ย please edit your earlier comment and add a link so that we can find Product Feedback for this specific item and upvote it. (I'm new here and have no idea where to find Product Feedback, and then when I do find it, as another person commented, I am not sure if I will still have time to review all of the product feedback suggestions.)
Any updates on this, it seems having a sum of efforts of all tasks (in a project) is something commonly needed and easy to do? Is their no way to do this till today?
Hi Hussein El-Genk, welcome to the Community!ย ๐
I'm checking with the team now; I'll get back to you if I have an update from them. Please let me know if I can help with anything else!ย

Another upvote, but I'm hoping someone can clarify...I was able to roll up effort at the project level on the table view, but I am unable to view that same info (and can't add it as a column or field) when you access a report or the main project page? Is that the issue being referenced here, or am I doing something wrong?
If that is the issue discussed here, I guess I don't understand why we have access to it in the Table but not anywhere else on the platform. That seems unnecessarily limiting. In practical application, it seems obvious to be able to see Time Spent and Effort in columns right next to each other - . If you can only see Time Spent, that's certainly not a complete picture of the project, nor does it allow the ability for a retrospective look at project planning once the project is complete - I'd want to have a quick way to access a meaningful comparison between effort and time spent.
Hi Jessie Stith, thanks for your upvote!
Yes, that's right. This option is not available in the Reports right now, so we are gathering the feedback on this and see how many people are going to upvote it, while the relevant developer team is checking whether it could be included into the roadmap for the upcoming year. Thanks for your contribution.

Yes, we desperately need this feature.ย We're able to use the Effort number in Table View, Workload Charts, and Analyze Boards but also want to see it sum on the Project Info Pane, in Reports, and want the ability to have an "enable rollup" button on top-level tasks so that when you click it all the subtask effort will automatically roll-up to the top-level task.ย Please and thank you ๐
Meredith Selden, thank you for supporting here!ย

I am amazed that you can see this info in the table view but won't allow us to view this info in the reports. Maybe I was spoiled with Jira before but this just seems like basic functionality.
Thank you for your support for this suggestion Eric Sebor! Our Product team is aware of this feedback and once it reaches 60 upvotes, we will add a Product status here ๐ย

I guess this didn't make it on to the roadmap for 2022, so let's give it a little bump. It seems like a baffling gap that would be helpful to many customers to fill.
This is a fundamental requirement.ย I was showing the application to new team members today and they just shook their heads at the absence of this feature.
I would love to see project effort as an option to be used in Analyze as well.ย Not sure if that is part of this feedback thread, but it would really help to tell a data story.ย
Thanks!
Thank you for your continued feedback here, folks! This post is now close to reaching the 60 upvotes threshold, so we'll be adding a status here soon.ย

Upvote here! Are we close to 60? This would be so helpful in reporting and planning. It is part of our organization's goals this year.ย
