Desktop Notifications for Desktop Software

Hi - I am bummed to learn that notifications are only available if you are using Wrike in a browser interface, as I have downloaded the desktop software and intend to have my team do as well. Has there been any interest / work done to have notifications enabled in the desktop software as well? I would love to get this feature added!

Hi Amanda, I'm a huge fan of the desktop app. You can get notifications for the app too - you'll find them here:

  • Mac: System Preferences - > Notifications
  • Windows 10: Settings -> System -> Notifications & Actions.

Let me know if you're having any trouble with this! 👍

Stephen - thanks I actually have them turned on in my system settings (see screenshot), but I still don't receive the notifications via my desktop version. I do find it odd that the setting says "via Microsoft Edge" next to it (no other settings say that). Any thoughts? I would really like to get this to work because that is my only gripe about the desktop version!

After looking into this with our developers, it looks like a known issue, Amanda. I've raised a ticket for you so it's brought to the attention of the team looking into it. Once we have feedback we'll be sure to update you. You'll receive a confirmation email about this soon.

Good news is that's it's a temporary issue and you'll have notifications options on your Windows OS soon 👍

@Lynda Hi, welcome to the Community 🙂
We're limited here since these notifications are controlled from the Operational System side of the computer (Microsoft), not Wrike. However, our Support team is working together with Microsoft to fix this. I'll update you when there's new info on this. For now, I'll raise a Support ticket for you so that the team is able to track the issue.

July 2020 - any updates on this? I do not even see Wrike as an option in Settings -> System -> Notifications & Actions yet i do get pop up notifications in Windows 10 with the desktop app, they are just not "cached" in the Notification side bar

What is the status of this ticket?

Doesn't appear that there is any resolution to this still. We still do not get notifications through Wrike's Desktop App.

Are there any updates on this? I need to receive notifications from the Wrike app since email notifications aren't sufficient for me right now.

I'm having a similar problem with Desktop Notifications on my Mac. I'm not sure if this is different enough that I should open a different ticket or picky-back this one. My settings are set to Alerts, so the notification should stay up. It doesn't -- it acts like a Banner and fades out. Normally I would be fine with a Banner but for the second problem -- none of the Wrike notifications end up captured in my Notifications Center.

Is there still no functionality for this? This feature would allow me to minimize wrike and still get notifications when tasks assigned to me, otherwise I have to watch the board constanly which does not help productivity.

Must say, I'm a bit surprised that something as standard as Desktop Notifications do not work on Desktop Wrike after four years of mentioning it. I have numerous "lesser" applications where this is implemented as expected. It IS a huge time saver to be able to rely on Desktop Notifications rather than the other available options, like email notifications ... especially for an application as dense and full-featured as Wrike. I'm happy to beta test any new development. I am on a Mac/Big Sur, with the latest version of Desktop Wrike. I have notifications set up for Wrike and, while they do pop up momentarily, they are not sticky in the notifications center, nor do they persist if set to Alerts. They stay up for a few seconds then disappear. There seems to be some issue with persistence.

I'm jumping on this thread (although since it hasn't been resolved in 4 years, I'm skeptical).

I run both Wrike (developers) and Asana (Marketing and rest of company) side by side. Unless this is added, I'm going to do what I can to get out developers into Asana.

Jeff Scott can you tell me more about how Asana has been working for you compared to Wrike? its not cheap. the desktop notifications are a going to be a deal breaker for me as well. without it it complicates communication within the wrike app.

Nate Wintringer it really comes down to user interface. It's like Wrike was designed by IT people and Asana was designed by designers. The flow, the views, everything are in a very intuitive experience.

Plus, right now, I get an email for every single interaction in Wrike (because I don't get typical notifications), it's an absolute nightmare. This reason alone is one to not want to use Wrike.

Asana notifications work inside of MacOS and are perfect. It's really a shame that our Developers started with Wrike before we did with Asana, as the person who originally chose Wrike agrees that Asana is a much better product.

In fact, to tell you how much better Asana is, we are actually paying dual licensing for some of the Wrike users to have an Asana license. 95% of the company is on Asana and they work in there and use Wrike as a conduit to pass Asana tasks to the developers on Wrike.

The sole reason our devs are still on Wrike, the built in time tracking.

Jeff Scott thanks for the reply. i was an early adopter of wrike and was happy up until our last renewal. im looking to switch. ever check out monday.com? our marketing team likes it and its my front runner - checks boxes and is simple UI best of luck on switching the Developers, i dont think they will complain much....;)

I keep getting this weird notification on my Mac screen every time:

"Software from "Wrike, Inc." added items that can run in the background. You can manage this in Login Items Settings."

When I go to my settings, I see this block and it isn't even toggled on! Another annoying thing is, I uninstalled Wrike almost two years ago! This creepy thing is freaking me out. I've been trying to get help for the past three days and nobody from the customer service or anywhere is responding. How do I fix this?
