[Status: Backburner ⌛️] Automatic Incrementing Number on Forms/Requests
It would be nice if Wrike could automatically assign a number on a form/request submission that could be used as a case number, order number, etc. We would want to set a fixed prefix and suffix, and then, use the number in the title of the task/project created from the submission.
Mark Ireton visibility into any existing roadmap would also be nice. We keep hearing these requests aren't on the roadmap. What is?
I upvoted this on May 17, 2022 and it still has not moved forward and it is in Backburner. Why? We have a big need for this as it takes a third party system to make Wrike work for us.
Hi folks, we appreciate your continued feedback on this topic! And we understand that our replies may seem a bit repetitive here, but for now we don't have updates as this feature isn't planned for this year. We may have updates for you next year when our plans are more defined, and we will let you know if we do. In the meantime, we acknowledge that your feedback is with our team now. Thanks for your feedback.

I have just found this thread while looking for exactly this feature.
It just makes sense... thankyou whoever raised a few years ago :)
Functionality to start at any given number (given existing registers in excel or other systems) and increment by one each new request is lodged would remove the need to duplicate functions in Excel like a register. There is a push to move these types of requests features to Jira so keen to understand if its something that will be done (keen to hold out). I would like to automate several key request type functions if this feature was implemented that are inside our core business processes.
Is there a way to monitor and get updates to this post via wrike or email ?
Now following - just found it above - thanks all
We are trying to use this feature for automatically assigning an ECR# to our request form. This would help us eliminate our spreadsheets and use Wrike in more areas of our company.

So this has been a consistent request since 2018 and you still have it on the back burner? I don't understand how you would ignore such an important and not so difficult integration. As a programmer, it shouldn't be difficult to incorporate an auto increment field where we can cap the length & it generates the information into a custom field.
Even if you just create some fields with digits & call it 'custom field 1' or something to allow people to utilize them, why would that take almost 7 years??? That seems awfully uncaring of the multiple customers requesting this feature. Plus it doesn't seem very practical for a database on the whole.
Hi Basudha Sakshyarika
Any positive news before I get pushed into a Jira service desk approach for all this ?

Thanks for responding.
Is there any type of workaround that you can think of within Wrike. Perhaps some type of automation? Once a certain email is sent to, it automatically sends to another email? Not sure if you can do that with email requester... So Joe@wrike.com is the email requester. Can you set up an automation if Joe@wrike.com is sent something, it would trigger an automated process?
When can this feature be implemented in Wrike? We manage multiple projects that require custom numbering, which we currently create manually using an Excel list. This process often leads to issues such as duplicate numbers, incorrect formats, and other errors. Implementing a solution for custom numbering directly within Wrike would greatly streamline our workflow. We kindly request this feature be prioritized to enhance Wrike’s functionality and make it even more efficient for our team. Please make our Wrike greater!

Any chance this feature will be anywhere near available? This is a baseline request and is really making our transition to Wrike difficult.
Welcome to the Community, Brian Grignon. Currently, there are no new updates regarding this feature request. We understand this may present challenges. If you would like to check whether there are any workarounds to assist with your transition, please feel free to contact our Support Team. Thank you!

Hi, I just came across this thread. Are there any updates on this feature?
I’m surprised it hasn’t been implemented yet, given that it has been requested by many users for over 7 years.
I had to create a front end for Wrike & when we place an order, it updates a custom field called jobno with an auto incremented number. I also had to utilized the front end to create an order form since their request forms do not allow you to stop people from selecting weekends and holidays when submitting orders. Very frustrating indeed for 2 common sense functions...
Yeah what is the deal here. This request was made in 2018 and has 169 upvotes. Is it even on the roadmap?
Elena Boughey we did something similar, though now whenever we have a change we keep having to relearn the wrike schema and tweak everything via api calls. We have that for half our processes, the other half we still manage outside wrike and import job numbers as custom fields. I've been checking back on this thread for the last four years.. hopefully one day. Still interested in this feature.
Found this chat.. and we are looking for this identical functionality. Unfortunately, Task ID doesn't work for us. Ideally, we could start the sequence and keep going. Any updates now, in 2025?
Thank you, everyone, for your feedback. As we approach the new year, we expect to have more clarity on the status of this suggestion in the coming months. We’ll keep you updated and share more information when we have it. 👍🏽
