progress view on the Timeline view

Hi

I'm evaluating your SW for our use and it is a very nice and friendly SW, however it is missing one very fundamental feature that is required for easy and efficient project managment.

currently there is no easy way to define the progress of the task by % (not by time) and to have the ability to see the progress visually on the tasks/projects time line in reference to the "today".line.

When I look at the Time line I would like to see in a glance which projects/tasks are behinde schedule and which projects are on schedule.

Adding the % progress should be very simple and easy so the assigned engineer will be able to update it.

I tried the work-arounds of defining custom statuses and add a field in the table but it is simply not working properly

Having the ability to see the progress statuse on the time line is basic for any gantt tracking SW

Currently this is the only drawback I found while evaluating the SW but it is a major one, I would be very happy to know if you have any plans to have a solution for that in the coming future

P.S you have greate live chat support😊

Thanks

Boaz

Hi Boaz, firstly, I'm delighted to hear you're enjoying using Wrike 🙌

The idea of a progress bar was suggested here recently and I love the idea!

For your suggestion here, I wanted to bring your attention to Custom Fields. I can see the Support Team already brought you through this option but I just wanted to outline here again in case you have any questions (or if another member here has the same question).

You can add % type Custom Field to tasks and indicate how much work is being completed by entering the percentage manually. Granted, this won't be visible in the Timeline view at a glance. Instead, you'll need to click on the task and view it in the Task View.

I think you might also be interested in Kris's suggestion to add a progress bar. I think his approach could be something that our Product Team could consider for Timeline so it would be great to see your vote there too if you agree!

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community 👍

Hi

I did try the customer field as a progress field and I also tried to defined customer statuses, however all of this data is not managed and it is not displayed on the time line so it not covering the need,

Having a progress bar is a good step in the right direction however the most important place for a manager to see that all the elements of the project are progressing according to the schedule is the dash bord and the time line, if the progress is not reflected there it is a disadvantage

A good example is the way the progress is displayed on the MS project time line view

The progress parameter may also be used in many other important features that you already have like behind schedule widget, notefications….

Thanks

Thanks for following up Boaz. I'll leave this thread open for now as it's slightly different to Kris's idea. Any updates I'll be sure to update you here 👍

I’m still waiting for this feature to be added.
I would appreciate any update on the time line for the release.

Agreed, this feature is pretty critical for those like myself practicing traditional project management. When I ask task owners for a status update, I don't want a paragraph of them explaining what they've done and "In Progress" is not enough information.  % Complete is the established means, especially when it can be tied to milestones/workflow toward the completion of the task.  That % complete then populates status and performance metrics (including Earned Value, which I also don't see in Wrike), and crucially appears graphically on the Gantt chart so I, and those I report to, can see the status of tasks at a glance.

Any updates with the % - "in progress" feature? We really need this feature in the way our team works. Good point by Joel. % progress would be enough at higher level meetings.

We manage the project where we have tasks, we invoice the percent complete of the project on a monthly basis.  However it is found to be inconsistent and unreliable to ask someone the percent complete for the project.  We have the tasks assigned a weighted percent of the total project.  I would like to be able to update the % complete of the project based on the status and weighted percent of the subtasks.  For example if there are 4 tasks in a project, 2 tasks are complete, each with a 10% weight, the overall project % complete would be 20%. If there was a way to update a field based on the status this would be helpful or write if then statements in custom fields.

Wrike really needs the feature.  We are piloting this software this year and this topic is a continuous feedback point.  Task progress% is needed in timeline view.

there is a great feature of Project Progress in the android app only. Why isnt this available on all platforms? https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/articles/360010428113-Project-Progress-in-Android-App

its frustrating to only be able to view basic task lists and project lists with no automatic metrics ...except in the android app

I agree with Clarie's response.  Why would this feature included for android app and not other platforms.  This makes not sense.

I would also like to know if there is any time line for introducing this feature. If it already exists on the android app it would seem to me that it could be implemented in a relatively short period since its already functioning within Wrike .

Hi All,

If you want to see the task progress you could create a custom workflow for your tasks where they could be labeled: In Progress 10%, In Progress 20%, etc. You could even color code them from cold(10%) to warm(90%) to visually understand where the task is at without having to read the percentage. It would be your user's responsibility to update to the correct percentage status.

Hope this idea helps!
