    It's good to see this has been added as "Coming soon", but an estimate on timeline would help.

    We have a lot of Project Managers working with Gantt Charts and don't want them to "defect" to MS Project, just because the Gantt Chart can't be printed with all details (including the table on the left): title, start & end date, duration etc. are missing in the PDF print view.

     

    User benefit to change this:

    • Better overview about tasks and their duration
    • Otherwise, the reference is not there and it can get confusing very fast, since the context is missing.
    • Showing the whole picture would absolutely improve usability and understanding

    I do hope this is coming as planned by end of month. As a new user, I was utterly astonished (and aggravated) that it was not already an implemented feature.

    For me, lack of this is unfortunately a non starter.

    Hi all, just read the complete thread, 2018 to may 1st 2020! Totally agree, this is a must feature for PMs printin/circulating as a PDF the Gantt information. I checked today & not present yet. GREAT to hear this is shortly due. THE EFFORT will be much appreciated. Thanks.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience. The team is doing everything in their power to ensure you have the best experience with this new functionality.     I hope this proves to be true. We were told the same thing at the beginning of April, and then in May we were told it would be a couple of weeks. Not to be pessimistic, but seeing is believing.

    Hugh  You mentioned that you would let the community know if there were changes to the target of delivering by the end of last month. We're a week into July now. Can you please provide the status update?

    We have been told "by the end of the month" or "couple of weeks" since April. Three months have gone by without any signs of it happening. I haven't even seen anything on beta testing the feature like I have with other features where I have participated in the beta tests.

    The community is very anxious for this hot topic, but I think we'd all prefer realistic dates and promises over continually missing the empty promises.

    Sorry to be blunt, but I sense the frustration in the group and I share the sentiment.

    Hi Lisa - I have to think that for some users this will be a step in the right direction.  However, I would like to suggest some additional features be added that allow some user control over the pdf that is generated. For example, I would like to be able to print a pdf of JUST the Table Portion of the Gantt view. Thanks!

    I agree.  The output / format should that same as if you were printing an MS Project schedule to present to a client.  Select Date Range, determine what in the table is shown, ability to select standard page size (currently wrike just outputs some random sized PDF, looks like a "Snip"), ability to fit to x number of pages, title, legend, logos..etc.  If I have to provide a schedule externally I am currently having to recreate this in MS Project... A total duplication of effort...  All of these items are foundational for a a project mgmt software.

    I'm not sure why it took over 2 years to get this limited functionality.  It seems like while it's progress it totally missed the mark.  Google "what the customer wanted comic"... This is a classic example of poor communication... If Wrike is truly trying to replace programs like MS Project they need listen to what their customers are asking for.

    Hey guys. I have to not only agree with the initial feedback provided, but go even further to express my extreme disappointment and frustration with this pathetic solution. We have been asking for over 2 years for a Gantt chart that can be printed properly. We have been told for months that it is in the works, with delay after delay. Many great suggestions and feedback have been provided through this community on what our expectations are from the product. There are other programs on the market that clearly demonstrate how this should be implemented. And yet all we get is the same poorly formatted PDF layout with the addition of the columns on the left. As mentioned by Alex Griffiths this is no more than a glorified screenshot. The effort for adding the columns was probably a couple of days of work, yet it took 2 years to get it. Have you guys even tried to print a PDF Gantt chart of a 4 year project? It's ridiculous.

    This does not even come close to providing what your users need and have been asking for. At the bare minimum, this should print with proper page sizes, paging with columns repeated on the left of every page if desired, setting the date range to print, and other basic features that actually produce a useful output. I fully expected to have some control over the output through a print dialog interface or something. We don't get any option; just Print, and what you get is what you get; a screenshot. We can't share this with clients.

    I believe that the community is going to be very displeased with this implementation. People have been waiting for a very long time, stating how important this is and how they need this to be able to continue using Wrike as a viable tool. Many have shared their need to depart to another product if this feature doesn't deliver. And yet we get handed a lackluster bump to the Gantt printing capabilities. 

    As a result of this release, I also believe that the community is going to be done playing nice and being patient. The patience has run dry. We have waited long enough to get a quality implementation and we still don't have it. This is a very polarizing topic and you will have users very upset over the lack of delivery for this needed capability.

    You have teams of developers working on things like the New Experience, Automation, and Budgeting features. All great additions to the product (assuming they are implemented well with our feedback considered). But existing features that don't hit the mark, that so many people need and have asked for, that make the product competitive in the market where there are countless other options; these items need more attention. It is much more important to many users to be able to produce proper Gantt chart reports to their clients than it is to have a new UI layout. With the New Experience interface, if you still can't produce a nice Gantt report, the new interface is pointless.

    I am not meaning to attack anyone personally because I know a lot of hard work goes into the development of Wrike, but I am sharing honest feelings from the group; this is the reality of the situation. You are alienating a sector of users that deem this as extremely important to their daily work. Stringing us along for so long to just deliver this is an insult to those who have been waiting patiently for this feature.

    I am personally very disappointed, and as many other users will have to continue to do, find some other means to produce a Gantt chart report; a core fundamental feature of any PM software.

    I am extremely unhappy - we have 85 users and 50 of them needed print functionality (which is now ok - not perfect)
    But we also wanted a few additional improvements with the Gantt's UI which were communicated to our project manager 11 months ago (see attached) all on the basis of us re-signing for another 12 months (which we did in May)

    Basic Request:

    1. Dates above each column/task (to help determine date better)
    2. Lines between each column/task (to help determine date better)

    Advanced Request:

    1. Priority sorting
    2. Eye icon to show/hide certain rows from print/PDF
    3. Drag and drop groups of tasks

They will be reviewing it to consider further improvements of the Gantt Chart printing. This current print function might be better suited for shorter projects, but this is definitely a step in the right direction.     Lisa Thank you for responding quickly to the feedback and sharing the sentiments with the team.

    I strongly feel that this is a very hot topic to many, and is becoming a sore subject. I believe it is time that this item be raised to a high priority, is assigned a dev team, involves a focus group of users (most notably ones in this thread that have been driving the feedback), and jointly works to develop a proper solution.

    Other development efforts are handled in this manner where we have had the opportunity to be part of the beta test groups, provide feedback directly through calls and meetings with the team to share what works and what doesn't, and work together towards a successful outcome.

    In this case, I don't think that the standard approach of feedback being shared back to the team for review and some unidentified possible future improvement is enough anymore. I think we are passed that point and the community wants to see this handled with urgency and significance.

    Thank you for your consideration and for helping to emphasize the importance of this feature improvement.
