Hi Jason Pontius! Sorry to hear you're disappointed; please rest assured that your feedback is passed on to the team, and they are reviewing it to make future plans for improvement. One thing I wanted to ask in terms of functionality - have you considered using Gantt Chart snapshots for your clients as well?

Lisa I am sure you have noticed that I am not the only one that has voiced disappointment over the lack of resolution on this long standing issue. The feedback of everyone speaks volumes to the fact that the users know what is needed and Wrike has yet to deliver.

I appreciate the suggestion, but Snapshots do not solve the problem. These are still interactive, online access views of the data. They are not printable.  The issue here is the inability to create a properly printed (paper or PDF) Gantt chart report that can be submitted or circulated; which is what most construction contractors or other clients working on large projects use and require.

Lisa I want to point out that the new "printing" capability that so far has take over 2 years... is exactly a snapshot, it's not "printing".  I could have done this 2 years ago with a sniping tool.. You just gave me a button to do it now.

We don't want a snapshot we want a professional looking, correctly formatted, standard page size 8.5 x11 or 11 x 17...etc.  We want the ability to fit to one page or spread over multiple, we want the ability to select date ranges, we want the ability to add titles and customer logos.  We need a legend and ability to show critical path...  This is a major gap!  In addition, without the ability to print i have to maintain another schedule in MS Project manually because you refuse to allow an output in MSP format ?!!

What is being worked on today by the Wrike engineers that is more important that this foundational capability !?

WRIKE - PLEASE WAKE UP!   ITS TIME TO LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMERS!

    Hello everyone,

My name is Ilia Kreys and I am a Senior Product Manager here at Wrike, responsible for Table View and Gantt Chart. My team and I would like to thank you for your input here. We very much appreciate your feedback and insight in relation to this.

First, let me confirm that the latest change to the print function of Gantt was indeed limited to enabling the ability to print the table part along with the timeline. This was the main focus and description of this very popular product feedback suggestion. It was also highlighted as the biggest deficiency of Gantt Printing in interviews with clients.

Weโ€™re aware that there are some other points of improvement for printing of Gantt as you have highlighted, thank you for this feedback. Having said that, for now, we arenโ€™t planning those improvements in the near future. I can appreciate that this might be disappointing to some of you, which is why Iโ€™d like to walk you through some of the enhancements that we have prioritized and planning to release.

In terms of Gantt, the single biggest need that we have identified with many of our customers is the fact that it is lacking the same sorting options available in other Wrike views. We have started working on introducing the same sorting options in Gantt that are now available in the Table View (including sorting by priority) while still keeping the custom sorting as an option that many customers find useful in Gantt. This is in line with one of Karina Bairdโ€™s requests in her last comment above.

Our team is also responsible for the Table View where users often work with Custom Fields, and we are working on improvements in that area. One of these improvements will be to allow Calculated  Fields (aka Formulas) to be available not only in the Table View but in other places in Wrike such as in Tasks and Reports. Our other focus will be to enable account admins to better manage the Custom Fields.

Finally, we are continuously introducing smaller enhancements to Table and Gantt. Recently, we added the ability to copy/paste and drag/fill in the Table, which will soon be available in the table part of Gantt; we also added better filtering options to Gantt in line with the Table, and made the Predecessor column available in the Table. More of these types of improvements will be continuously delivered.

So while we are not currently planning to further improve the printing functionality of Gantt, we hope that the many other improvements we are working on will be useful to you and will greatly enhance your experience with Wrike.

Thank you again for the feedback you have provided here; if there are plans to make any further improvements to Gantt printing in the future, weโ€™ll be sure to update this thread.

Ilia Kreys  Let me be the first to voice my extreme disappointment in your latest post. It has been clear for months and months (if not years) that users need a core feature of any serious PM tool; proper Gantt chart reports. This has always been the request and goal of the user base. To say that the inclusion of the table in the "screen shot" approach to printing has fulfilled the needs of the feedback over the last 2+ years is extremely narrow-sighted. And let's be clear, the "print" function is nothing more than a virtual screenshot. It's not a real print job. See comments back as far as March 2018 that we DON'T WANT SCREEN SHOTS. We want a real print job.

When the users asked for proper Gantt char printing, they didn't mean just add the table to the screen shot image and call it a day. Where's the paging? Where's the page size definition? Where are the print layout options?  We still can't generate any usable report that can be shared with a general contractor. Even if I do print out this screen shot across 8 pages wide, there's no repeated labels or anything to make the print usable. If you can't squeeze it on to one page of paper, it is useless. What is a construction contractor going to do with this? Have you tried printing a Gantt chart for a two year project? How did that turn out?

Again, to see that Wrike won't even provide a basic feature of MS Project and other PM tools is mind-boggling. In order to compete against these options the features must be there. Otherwise, many people will be forced to go back to MS Project.

I understand that there are other requests, features being developed, improvements in other areas. And we appreciate the progress with these enhancements, but to say "nah, we're not going to provide a core feature" is just hard for users to understand and hard to accept.  Wrike is spending months and months with a team of developers to create a New Experience, which according to all of the feedback can be considered a failure so far. As far as I can tell, everyone that has tried it has stated that it is a worse experience.

Yet with all of this effort on an agenda that has not been a success, the decision is to not spend any resources on fixing the lack of proper Gantt chart printing (not to mention printing ANY reports)? This is so frustrating to a lot of users. We have expressed our needs, disappointment, frustration, opinions, and even threats to abandon Wrike all together over this single issue and yet once again we are told "no".  I don't know what more the community can do to emphasize the gravity and importance on this topic.

I know my feedback is direct, but we've been asking for this for 2 1/2 years and I think many of us are tired of regurgitating our needs over and over until we are blue in the face. Now we are just frustrated.

Hi Ilea - I want to comment on a few of these points as well.

    1) We need the ability to print (or create a pdf) of a timeline without having to export to excel and reformat the information.  I can build a perfect timeline with an account person over my shoulder, then they say "email that to me, will ya?".  I have to say, "give me 20 minutes" to create a format that they can send to their client.  We don't like snapshots. The Sort order for a snapshot is uncertain. And clients don't want to navigate a system that they aren't familiar with.  Timeline printing and pdf generation features are much needed.

    2) Adding predecessor to Table View is huge for me. Please add the ability to sort by Predecessor in Table View as well.  Thank for this!!

    3) In general, having common features between Table and Gantt will allow users to bounce between each view as needed and have consistent functionality. We should be able to find the buttons and features in the same places.  We should be able to hold a sort from one view to another, or at least be able to achieve the same sort on each view. Thanks for your efforts in these areas.

    4) Getting updates:  I subscribe to this thread. But if I didn't, how would I find out the information you talk about above?  How about a bi-weekly or monthly email to users with bullet points of the updates that have been made.  One small tweak by you, could be huge for a specific user.   (Predecessors in Table view is HUGE for me).

    Thanks for listening!

Ilia Kreys wow - just wow. Truly disappointed in every sense of the word as it pertains to the kano model with the feature being requested as basic and must-have.

To iterate some of my earlier comment, I was stunned that a usable gantt print wasn't there in the first place. I am stunned further at your response.

Time for me to unfollow this thread and abandon wrike. Thankfully I have invested very little time.

    Respectfully.

David Amend  I share your stun, and I really appreciate your reference to the Kano model. It seems that some of the priorities of development at Wrike do not align with the needs of the users. New features are great; if and only if the important issues are addressed. But if you fail to deliver on the core needs then the "nice to haves" have little value.

You are not the only one that has stated clearly that without this feature you would be abandoning Wrike. Maybe Wrike sales department can chime in on sales or renewals lost due to the lack of this feature.

It also points out a bigger picture issue with Wrike in that there is very little at all that is printable from within Wrike. You can't print any report, not just Gantt charts. You have to export to Excel, reformat it, and print it from there. It is clear that Wrike's approach to the platform is that it is Web based only, and if you want to print anything you have to either take a screen shot or dump the data to some other tool and create your own print jobs. Wrike has shown no interest in providing any native printing tools outside of list view only. You can't officially print reports, calendars, time sheets, workloads, table view, Gantt charts, timelogs, analytic charts, etc.

I'm so confused.  How does this lack of professionalism happen from a company like Wrike??  The company asks for feedback but then ignore's what they hear?  Wrike - Is the issue that you just can't or don't know how to do it?  Is it too difficult?  It's been years in the making and it looks like 30 min was spent to create a snapshot button.  The only work around I have found is via the API (which they'll probably lock me out of or charge me more now)... I have an alternate (workaround) for you Wrike - Make an output in MS Project format until you can get your so called PM software running.  That way we'll have a real PM software to use while we wait another 5 years for this functionality to be come real.  Wrike - If your end goal is to get acquired, it wont happen till you have this.  As Jason Pontius and David Amend point out... please make sure the core functionality of a PM software is in place before you start adding bells and whistles... NOBODY will ever use the bells and whistles if they can't get the core functions.

    Hi,

    I am disappointed as well.

Roughly one third of Wrike users in our company needs to present a Gantt to one of our customers. As stated before, customers do not want to navigate a Wrike snapshot, they expect a Pdf with at least our logo, page numbering and repeating labels. This means that at the moment we have to painfully replicate Gantt with other software.

Being a software developer myself, I am well aware of the issues of this feature: visualizing the Gantt on a browser is completely different than doing it in a PDF. But please, try to understand our point of view too: two years ago we were told that this feature would have been implemented. Now, after repeated delays, you have delivered something that is not really completed, and you tell us that you don't plan to work on it in the near future.

I feel let down, especially for how this was handled in terms of communication and timeline. I think all the situation is a little ironic, for a project management software.

I too am really frustrated. I can't exactly tell my boss that we should be using wrike and spending THOUSANDS of dollars when you can't even get a simple PDF of the gantt chart he wants to see. our renewal is coming up and it doesn't look good for team Wrike. :-(

I am disappointed too but sadly, it isn't the only core PM-tool feature that is missing and ignored.

    (Edited )

Why is the "printed" table on the Gantt PDF fuzzier than the Gantt itself? You can see in the snapshot below that the table data is less clear than the text on the Gantt. Why would one text be so different than the other? It appears lighter and fuzzier.

Thank you  Lisa.  This is quite annoying to preset when it is soft blurry text. It looks like a bad low res screenshot.

Thanks for flagging it and hopefully they can resolve it quickly.
