[Status: Launched! ๐] Adding Time on behalf of others
Is it possible to add a feature that allows Administrator to add time entries on behalf of others? We have instances where team members may have forgotten to add time before going on leave for example or the boss may be in meetings all day and we needย their time to include in a report.
A simple drop down option for Administrators to select other users in the 'Add time entry' box would be very helpful.
Hello @everyone, and thank you all for sharing. Robert Heindl is correct, if a task is already in the timesheet it can be edited, a task cannot be added on behalf of another user.ย
We do understand the need for this functionality and I'm checking with the Product team to get an update. I'll post here as soon as I get one ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ
@...ย this only works in a project and not via weekly timesheet, right?ย
So I would extend the request in this thread to the weekly timesheet, to allow admins to enter times for users as the project is no way to keep an overview on one person.
Just rolling with Wrike Pro Services and m hopeful our PMs can add time on the behalf others.
I guess if the ability to log in as another user is activated, PMs can enter time for other users.ย Just remember to reactivate the account when finished.
Hi @..., sorry but I can not change time entries in the timesheet (just clicking on the start screen on timesheet and select another user) of other users and I am administrator.
Is their any possibility for the account owner to deactivate this feature? Or can you show how to make it?
Lisaย @...
Can we get an update on this or have someone put some pressure on the dev team if there is nothing happening?
ย
Lisa, youย mentioned some movement in October with some abilities via public API coming in the weeks after the post and then an update in Q1 of 2021.
But since then, the only info has been more of a backtracking from @..., saying that there is not an understanding of the need for this.
Just confused on how there are so many examples of use cases on here and needs for it, then for there to be what seems like some movement. Now the 180 degree of claiming that it's not an understood need, generic responses with links to articles that the admins requesting this would have combed through already and even flat out wrong information about the abilities on the timesheet.
ย
It's now Q3 of 2021, with no updates and fixing to be four years since this was initially requested, with what seems like no work on this feature. For sure no work that puts us in any better of a place to fix the time entries like we need to.
It truly does not make since to not allow certain roles to edit and add time entires for other users. That's like a basic manager function over a team and it is very debilitating to not have it. The ability to edit current time entries on a time-log is mildly helpful, but the steps to get even partial information is silliness. Plus, you're only seeing the entries for whatever location you're in and can still only edit the users that have logged time to a task under that specific location.
Unlocking admins abilities or even having a special role with the ability to edit and add entries on timesheets or pull a time-log report and edit it from there is a basic function for team leads or heck even financial teams to ensure proper billing or paycheck creation. It does not make since that this was not there from the beginning and for sure escapes me that it's been almost four years since it was brought to y'alls attention, with the implications that it has and it not be added yet and needs to be rectified!
Hi Dustin Beatyย and everyone!
First of all, thanks a lot for your continued support here, we've been passing it to our Product team for consideration as we usually do.
I'm happy to report that we got an update from them in relation to adding time entries on behalf of other users, and I'm happy to announce that this suggestion is planned to be released this quarter. That's why I've changed the status here to "Coming Soon". The ability to add time for others using our public API will also be released in Q3. Apologies for the confusion here as there were considerations for releasing this part earlier.ย
We're hoping this is good news for everyone on this thread, and thank you again for the support you've shown for the suggestion ๐

Wrike Support - what do you mean by this feature will be available using the public API? Will Administrators be able to go into the Wrike timesheet for a user and manually update time?ย
Kristina Aberleย I may be mistaken, but it seems to me like it will be available in both the application and the API.ย

This is great news!
I saw the pop up in my Wrike screen other other day and immediately went and tested it! Since then, I have already used it a couple of times!
Pass my thanks to the team!
ย
P.S. This is not a huge deal, but there are a couple of things with this that I wanted to mention.
The first is the message that I received in Wrike made mention of giving people access to this function. So naturally I wanted to check this, but we actually do not have that option to select. So clearing that messaging to users up would be good.
The second would be a function in the timelog itself. There are a lot of times that the time being in the wrong place or needing to add time to something is when viewing the time log of entries. So a button on there to add a time entry for someone would really round this thing off!
Hi Dustin Beaty, we're happy to hear that you like the new update and I've shared your additional feedback with the team ๐๐ผย
Thank you for your continuous input, we appreciate it ๐๐ผ
is this feature restricted to only certain subscriptions?ย
Hi Red Nimma, it's available for all subscriptions except Free and Professional. You can see more detail on that here. Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions.
