Use custom field type People to populate question in Request form

I have several custom fields of type People. Each custom field has a limited set of people. I want to populate a question on a request form with the data from these custom fields so that people filling out the request form have a limited set of options to choose from for each question. It appears that the People type is not available for any question type. I would prefer to use the People type because it is easy to add/remove people, and I do have some custom fields of type People that are not limited. Creating Single or Multiple selection types is more of a pain to maintain. Am I missing something?

Additionally, why do you differentiate between Single and Multiple selection fields as a type as opposed to making that determination when creating the question on a request form? A list of items in a custom field should be able to be used for Single or Multiple selection questions without having to maintain two custom fields.

We also would have a use case for this functionality. Sometimes I want a customer to be able to choose their assigned Customer Service Person from a dropdown of a limited number of people and then assign that user to the task. This is would come in handy when a customer can't remember who their CS person is. They might then recognize the name from a list instead of just a blank option to assign whomever.

Hi folks! So this should be partially possible with this update, but you'll have to create a list yourself and then map it to the "User" custom field. Would you like me to move this thread to the Product Feedback forum?

Lisa, that is not what I am asking for. Your response links to a post about mapping the RESPONSE to a question in a form to a custom field. I want to populate the selection in the form with the limited set of users I've selected in my custom field.

Let me explain in more detail. I have created a custom field named Project Manager. I have set the type to People, checked the box to Limit list of users and have selected 5 people. I have a request form with a question regarding who is the Project Manager. I want to populate the options for this form question with the people I have selected for my custom field. As of now, it appears that this is not possible and a custom field of type people can't be used to populate a single select list or multiple select list so I don't really see what the point is of creating a custom people field and being able to limit the list of users because you can't use it to populate anything.
