Am I crazy or are folder contents missing in the table (new) view? I can see tasks in a folder in the old table view on the mobile app, but clicking on a folder in the new view only gives me information on that folder, not the ability to view its contents.

I believe what you're looking at would be the work-item view of the folder. Basically the view the you'd see in the split pane format, if you'd click on the folder item while using the web application.
In the mobile app, you'll see an option called "show subitems" right above the description panel of this information view of the folder. On clicking this it will lead you to see its contents in table view.
Ideally, If you'd want to take a quick look at the sub-content of the folder, you can easily access it via clicking on the expand icon (the caret symbol ^ besides the title of the folder). Hope this helps!
