Calendars displaying custom date field durations
Hello!
We noticed that there is no way, on Wrike Calendars (as well as Calendar dashboard widgets) to control the visual duration of any given project or tasks. Options remain full duration (start date to due date) and just due date.
It would be awesome if we could include more options, specifically the ability to leverage custom date fields to visualize timeframes other than when tasks are being worked on.
The use case that we have: we have a request form to request the creation of notifications in our internal website.
- Form asks for the date in which the notification needs to go live --> feeds to the due date field and description
- Form asks for the date in which the notification needs to be taken down --> feeds to a custom date field and description
- Form reschedules work based on due date
We wanted to be able to see the live duration of the notifications, so that we can identify any overlaps. Unfortunately, we cannot due that as the due date is already being used for the actual live date of the notification which was necessary to be able to properly reschedule our blueprints backwards.
Other platforms like JIRA have allowed for custom fields to be used to pull into a calendar format to view specifically things like this. We were therefore hoping for a similar feature in Wrike.
Another important benefit of this is that custom date fields currently have the ability to display a time of day, whereas the due and start dates do not. We have a use case wherein we have a bunch of appointments that we would like to show on our calendar in the order they are happening, but that is currently not possible.
Thanks for your input, Ali Moses! I think that would be extremely valuable to have, especially in your use case. It would really help to keep information centralized in one tool. On our side, we have to put in extra effort and time into translating these projects into another tool such as Outlook just to keep track of live dates; it defeats the purpose of keeping everything in Wrike.
Thanks for posting and supporting this idea to display more custom fields on calendars. I'll share this suggestion with the relevant team now 👍
