Hiding Custom Fields in Tasks

Answered

Is there a way to hide custom fields for Tasks when they are not needed? For this task, I only need the Accountable visible. Everything else I do not need.

Is there a way to hide them for each task?

Hi Lea Labastida - You could set up a Custom Item Type (CIT) for tasks and hide/show certain custom fields and then use that in lieu of the standard task, which brings everything in. At each task level though, it's not possible without a CIT.

Here's a quick article on CITs that may help - https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/articles/4409188763031-Custom-Item-Types-in-Wrike

Hi Lea Labastida,

the only way to do this is using CITs =)
You can declare which field you want to show or not.

Not all custom fields of your space have to show up in every task, but you'll see all fields that are enabled for the current folder. See this article how to add custom fields to folders: Adding Custom Fields to Folders, Projects, or Spaces – Wrike Help Center

You'd have to remove the unwanted custom fields on the folder (or space) level where they were added, and then add only the fields you need in the lower folder structure.

Pietro Poli & Michelle McMillen wow I did not know about CITs. Thank you.

Newbie question if a project task is created via blueprint can that task later on be turned into a CIT?

Florian Kislich Cant remove them from the folder or space since multiple people need them for different things!

Lea Labastida - Yes! You can change the item type at any time. You click on the "ellipsis" at the top of the project item or task item and then go down to "Change Item Type" and adjust it there. Here's a screenshot of a task in my space. :)

Pietro Poli & Michelle McMillen I created my own Custom Item time with the fields I wanted to show. Yet when I use the type, I still see a bunch of other fields I did not have activated. Any guidance?

Hi Lea Labastida,

other custom fields you see I think are activated by table view. I don't know if it's possibile to hide.

Hi Lea Labastida - I looked into this further and if you want to "hide" the ones that show up under "More," you are going to have to add them to the "hidden" section of the CIT. It doesn't automatically assume that you want all of them hidden unless you indicate it.

In order to hide the fields, you will first have to add them to the right side as something you want. Then you can click on the "eye" and hide them all. This will then have it in the hidden section and shouldn't show anymore. Hope this helps!

Is it possible to make a Custom Item type, created in a Space, available Account Wide? I created one in a space, but I cannot use it to update blueprints because it is not a Custom Wide Item Type.

If I delete the space CTI and recreate it in the Account Wide section, will my projects that use it be affected?

Lea Labastida - Unfortunately, you can't turn it into an account-wide CIT. You will have to recreate it, but the good news is that once you delete the old CIT it won't affect your current projects. Those will all stay the same.

Also, someone has already put this in product feedback so if you want to upvote here's the link - https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/10060840841367-Moving-or-Duplicating-Custom-Item-Types
