Board view "grouping" options
Wrike recently added grouping by Assignee. It would be magical to be able to group by custom fields -- this would allow true kanban "classes of service"!

This would be a really powerful feature that would make it easier for our team to visualise tasks :)
Hi Matt Snyder, thank you for creating this post, I've shared it with our Product Team 👍
Jess Cuddy thanks for supporting this suggestion 🙂
Hi team - is there an update on this feature? The board view is useful as a basic tool, but supporting a swim lane type construct would make it truly effective as a Kanban tool!

I third this as well. I've been struggling with project hierarchy for my team trying to create various workarounds to meet our needs. Adding a grouping category by "Project" on boards would be helpful. We have the option to show location but it only shows the closest most immediate project/folder. So, if you're using custom item types for project phases, it's going to show the task and then the phase with no context for which project. Same thing happens if you're using folders to organize your projects too. If I have a project Landing Page (project) > Planning, Copy, Design, Digital (phase) > Task XYZ, then the board will only show Task XYZ and Planning, Copy, etc. and I have no way of seeing for which project without clicking into it.
Thanks for supporting this suggestion Travis Balthes 🙌 Our team is aware of the idea to allow more grouping options, and we'll let you know if we have any news from them 🙂

I agree with this as well. Having the ability of grouping by Project as well as other fields, including custom fields is very important. When I look at the board view for the whole space, or for a folder with multiple projects, it would make things much easier to navigate and action without switching views back and forth.

Please prioritise a group by project filter on the board view - this is fundamental for any team that handles multiple projects at one time. This is business critical for my consultancy teams work.
The current workarounds are clunky (custom task manipulation to classify as projects) or require many clicks to complete all relevant tasks (use of custom dashboard), whereas a board view with swimlanes per project would majorly enhance the UX.
Here's my user story:
I want to be able to have a board view that has swimlanes per project (Group by Project)
So that I can clearly see my consultancy teams work in progress at a glance, and update task status per project quickly and visually through dragging and dropping.

Adding to this, grouping by fields beyond Assignee is standard functionality in Jira, Zenhub and other tools. The lack of this capability is preventing me from effectively driving user adoption.

I would especially appreciate being able to group by Importance in Board view, but second the original idea for custom fields in general.

It does seem odd you can you only group by custom fields in table view. Grouping by custom fields or the ability to show tasks under multiple columns in board view is key.
One more upvote. Grouping by folders and/or projects would be great as well. What the board really is about is maximum transparacy. So we need to be able to see all the required information at one glance.

One workaround I've been able to use is filtering further. It does't 100% resolve the grouping, but allows for my use case where I have multiple assignees, but only specific ones will be actioning tasks. If I filter to those assignees while grouping by assignees, it limits the view to where I want. Just thought I'd add to this in case this works for others use case.
Thanks a lot for posting your workaround Gonzo Paiva 🤗
