[From Wrike] New Layout and Functionalities of Item View ๐
Hi Community!
This week, we have more exciting news about Item View in Wrike! Our Product Team continues to improve the functionalities (and layout ๐) of this essential part of the Wrike Lightspeed experience and these are the latest changes you will notice as of today:
- With the new layout, you will see your data displayed in one column instead of two. Hereโs how the Item View looked previously:
Now, to access tasksโ properties and custom fields, you can click on the collapsible menu located on the right-hand side of the view ๐:

- All inherited fields will remain in the โMore fieldsโ section. This part of the view is expanded by default to facilitate access to the most used fields in the item ๐ง These changes allow a better distinction between configurable and non-configurable fields in Custom Item Types.ย
- Among the most remarkable enhancements of the latest updates is the new custom field search bar ๐ which allows searching fields by name or value ๐คฉ:

- A new status checkbox โ allows you to mark a task as completed - and comes with a cheerful animation ๐
- All customers with access to Item View have access to the updated view ๐ช
Have you already tested the new look and feel of the Item View? Please, let us know in the comments if you have any questions or thoughts about it.
Looking forward to your feedback! ๐
Another issue I have with this layout change is it no longer shows the total time spent next to the timer and Add Time Entry area. There used to be the total time spent in parentheses so you could see how much time had been spent.
ย
Now you have to click on More to see all the other fields, including Time Spent. This is such an unnecessary step every time you look at a task. I have no idea why you would REMOVE data from the view that hardly took up any space.ย
ย
Please put this data back where it was so we can see it at a glance.
ย
Thank you.
@... I appreciate your sentiment, but the functions I am referring to have been requested for over 5 years with no progress at all. Yet, in that time, we have had 3 make-overs in the UI.ย
We are consistently given the same excuse; can't prioritize everything, or the team has discussed it and it's not on the roadmap (year after year after year). But who prioritizes new icons and colors and style over missing functions?ย
Just bumping this thread so it doesn't get forgotten or buried. To be honest we are still expecting that this view will be reinstated.
It works fine for Tasks but on Projects I want the Custom Fields to be automatically displayed as they collect all our most important data for reporting, so they shouldn't be hidden by default.ย The Project Info pane needs to be visually distinguishable from the Task pane - they're two very different purposes.
I have to agree with @maciej klosinski, this recent UI change has been a disaster for us. ย IF we had not only recently invested as much time and effort in training and orienting our team to Wrike, we would have considered an alternative. ย Now that we are stuck with it, we may as well try and get the most out of Wrike. ย Please revert to the side panel view for Custom Fields ๐๐ฝย
I'm afraid I must join the chain of feedback here. While I can see how having the custom fields be one column rather than a side panel could be helpful for others, it does not support our use and implementation of wrike at all. The inability to see custom fields in addition to recent comments while adding your comment gives a notable reduction in efficiency, requiring more scrolling. Even if you are opening the "more" for a quick look it forces you to the top of the task every time so you have to scroll down to the bottom to see the most recent comments again rather then preserving your view location in the task when "more" was pressed. Being limited to 3 visible fields above the "more" menu ensures it will need to be clicked for essentially every item on nearly every opening in our team.ย
I think there should be the option for the side pane or the one column view as others have suggested for this to be a usable UI adjustment.
Hi everyone! Huge thanks again for all your feedback here, we really appreciate it!
Our Product team has reviewed your inputs, and we just posted an update in relation to the future of Item view, please check it out here and let us know what you think!ย

Most of the new UI is a mess. Search is hidden, custom field issues, slower scrolling, missing column borders, etc.
Please create a toggle between the new version and old UI. That way you can gather feedback vs making everyone the guinea pigs. Most of these changes are already hurting our workflows and I've received a lot of complaints from co-workers (I help manage Wrike in my org).ย
Please change this back. We need to see our custom tags by default for every task we post so we can add more tags to categorize things.ย Now we have to click the MORE button each and every time, to add tags to the "Location" field, and honestly, that is MORE work and really no good.
Please give us the choice to show them by default like it used to be.ย Bring the OLD view back! Thank you! :-)
Hi folks! As I mentioned previously, our team has recently announced some changes that would hopefully be welcome to you, please check more details here ๐

a bit dissapointed with this update. For the key functions my team uses, this update is causing a lot more clicks to find information that was readily available previosly.
The persistant and repetitive 'help/info' bubbles are frustrating and cluttering. A user should be able to mute or cancel these.ย
Hi Ivan Radojcic, could you please check out this post with the most recent update and let me know your thoughts?ย

Thank you, Lisa, for the update and the team to provide some modifications based on our feedback. I still feel that the new layout does not provide as much information easily viewable as the old layout. And I continue to feel that the 3 big fields across the top of the item is a waste of space. This could be more efficient like the old layout. Do we really need to have the lable "Status" in the status field? I think we all know what a status is. Same for "Date(s)".
ย
Here are some examples of missing items:
ย
I still feel that the new layout is less efficient and I'm yet to be convinced that this is better.
ย
Thank you for this feedback Jason Pontius!
Our team is planning to continue reviewing popular fields and actions, and their location on the Item view. We'll keep you updated ๐
