Suggestion - Creating tasks using MS Outlook add-in
I use the Wrike MS Outlook add-in to create tasks from emails, and it is really helpful.
However it does not allow me to create a new task from an existing email trail that has already been used to create a task. I can create a sub-task, but often the nature of the needs from a long email trail changes and the subject is completely different - hence needing to create a new task.
Can a 'create as new task' option be added to 'add as sub-task' in this scenario?
Hi Michael:
I recently created a post regarding MS Outlook add-in, regarding to enable custom fields in the Wrike add-in panel (https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360053188373-Enable-edit-custom-fields-in-Outlook-for-Wrike-plugin).
Noticed your post is also MS Outlook add-in related and I have a question. When you are working on Wrike task after creation and need to reply against original email, how do you look up that task email in Outlook? I currently do the search based on sender or subject.
Just wanted to know your experience as it seems that you also live in both tools: outlook and wrike.
Thanks,
Chiao-Wen
This is still an issue in 2024. My team frequently encounters the exact same scenario: a single email thread can result in multiple, independent tasks.
Cansu's suggestion to create a subtask and then convert it to a task is a workaround, but it creates an extra step that should be avoidable.
A related request: implement the existing framework when multiple users attempt to create a single task from the same email. Ironically, multiple users can create individual tasks from the exact same email thread. That can create a plethora of duplicate tasks.
Hi Ian Hlavacek, thank you for supporting this idea and for adding the link to the other related post. I understand your point and I've shared your use case with our relevant team 👍
