API support of request forms - Submit or trigger submission of custom Wrike form programmatically

Hi All,

I have been using Wrike for a while now and have gotten a few integrations set up through the API. I was testing the UI for the custom request forms within Wrike and there's a lot of features I like and would like to use. I know I can make a form external for non-users, and embed it in a page which is good -- but is there a way to pass data into the form like formurl/?email_field=foo@bar.com

Failing that, can you trigger a form submission by POSTing data to the Wrike form from my own application / form?

Any ideas greatly appreciated!

Hi Pete Gosling, thank you for your post 🙂 I asked our Support experts to reach out to you about this, and I can see you discussed APIs and request forms in Wrike. It looks like this isn't currently possible, so I can rename your post slightly so it's easier to find (like "API support of request forms") and move it to the Product Feedback forum. Please let me know what you think!

Thanks, Lisa for your answer,

So the only way to do it is by using the external report links?

Chiming in to express that this feature would be very useful. We use requests to ensure task data integrity in critical projects by gate-keeping task submission though requests. I would like to enable other tools in our stack to generate requests without the manual step of a user having to transcribe data into requests. Thus being able to post new requests via API would be great.

Chiming in here to emphasize the usefulness of this feature request. As Wrike moves into the service management space, having more robust, enterprise-grade methods to ingest requests becomes increasingly important.

Both the ability to pass data to a Wrike form via URL query param (...formurl/?email_field=foo@bar.com) and the ability to POST full submissions via the REST API would be extremely helpful.

Thanks!

Because of the lack of capability to add conditional logic to the wrike request forms, I was working on a custom solution to send the data to Wrike via the API options. However, if I am unable to add the requestors email via the API, it removes the capability to use the email to requestor option through Wrike's UI, making the API somewhat useless. This is an important feature to have since it allows us to track communications within Wrike and improves efficiency and workflow. Wrike either needs to add API support for the email requestor field and/or request forms, or provide the option for conditional logic on the wrike forms to allows us to hide or show fields based on previous responses for more complex forms.

Jessica Baumberger You can build a Wrike Integrate Recipe to parse the requestor's email and name from the description section of the task and copy that data into custom fields for each of them.  Then you may be able to use that data in your API.  I have a recipe but can't figure out how to publish it into the Community Library.  Here's a screenshot.  Just make sure your request form has "General Information" as the page header on page 1 (or update this recipe to match your page header):

Meredith Selden; I think Jessica Baumberger is highlighting limitations with the Form and lack of ability for a workaround with the API.

The 'Email to Requester' functionality is a powerful way for teams to work within Wrike and communicate with stakeholders. If you use leverage this functionality, you are forced to use Wrike forms since the API doesn't expose a way to leverage the "requester" functionality of the forms.

We've ran into this exact same issue, and to our knowledge, Wrike hasn't yet provided a workable solution.

Our team has a need for this functionality as well.  Please implement a way for us to utilize with API.
