View only assigned tasks
It would be great to have an option in the Access Roles, or User types, to "only view assigned tasks". This would hide any task in a project that the user was not assigned to, even if they changed the view filter to "All Tasks". We use the base project info page for top level comms and file sharing, but when we share that it allows all of the tasks in the project to be seen. There are cases where we need to have a user be included in the top level comms, but only see their assigned tasks.
Seconded! We have situations were external teams are hopping into internal review tasks to comment on work not ready for their review. This is causing workflow disruptions for us, but seems like we can't keep people out of the internal tasks easily.
Hi @... I tried the filter method, but the user has the ability to set the filter back to all tasks. I am using Selective sharing, I made a profile based on the editor access role, but I didn't see an option to not share certain tasks. Can you point me to how that would be done?
Hey Russell Sprague, jumping in for Juan here 🙋
With enabling selective sharing, the new sharing rules will work for new items created in a particular folder or project. It means that the folder or project remains shared with any users who had access to it at the time that selective sharing was turned off. But if you start creating new items there, selective sharing should work there. Also, please note that any subfolders or subprojects added to the folder/project with selective sharing turned on will follow the logic of inherited sharing, unless these new subfolders/subprojects also have selective sharing turned on.
Does this help?

Thanks for the explanation Lisa. I did some testing, but selective share still doesn't solve the issue, unless I am missing something. The user that is shared on the main project/folder can still see all the task in the project/folder, even if it is a new Task created after select share was turned on. I still think adding a option to the access roles setting to "hide tasks not assigned to user" would be the best option.
Thank you for getting back to me Russell Sprague! I've asked our Support team to look into the selective sharing setup for you, they'll be in touch soon 🙌
