[Status: Not planned] Recurrent Parent + Subtasks

My workaround in the end was to use a new space and use projects and tasks such that the only thing I need repeating is tasks and not subtasks. It worked for my purpose of providing recurring personal daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly routines. It took longer to set up than it would've otherwise, if subtasks could've been recurring, but in the end the result is pretty much the same and I'm happy enough with it.

I realize that there are many use-cases that won't be solved by re-thinking the hierarchy such that recurring tasks and always only tasks and not subtasks, but luckily for me in my case, I was able to make it work.

Like Gandalf Saxe, we also have restructured the hierarchy of our projects and typically sort things in such a way that folders are used more like a project and projects are used for portions of the larger project so that tasks can be recurring and typically require few subtasks to be used. 

Has there been any update on this? There are several threads on this topic and I can't seem to find a solution?😭

The last update provided was that there is a technical barrier to the Wrike team completing this request. I have kind of given up on it happening. I have to manually create tasks with subtasks every month because I can't get them to auto-recur.

Yes, it has been a painful 3 years waiting for this but I think this thread is much older haha! We spend hours creating tasks that we need to recurr and do them year by year. Definitely a time-waster, wish this was a priority. =(

This week I had a coworker get excited when she discovered the recurring task feature thinking we could use it for a fortnightly team task and I had to break her heart that we can't utilize it because it doesn't copy the subtasks with it. 😔

The way it's currently set up makes the feature worthless/unusable for our team. So we use a Blueprint and a calendar reminder to manually create it.

Just starting on Wrike and have this issue, but looking at the dates of these replies I can guess that this is not gonna happen.  

That is sad but true. I feel that it's not accurate to say Wrike has recurring tasks when the subtasks don't recur. This is an integral part of task functionality.

Tasha Anderson  Not sure how far back you had looked in the thread.  Wrike has a technical issue that is preventing them from adding this functionality.  Plain English translation = The way Wrike was written/structured would require a very significant effort (a significant code rewrite) that Wrike is not willing to do thus far. Ginger Reed I agree, saying you have recurring task capability without the ability to have recurring subtasks is misleading.

Team Wrike, I tried to get a colleague to start using Wrike (yay). They were ready to dive in, only to find they need recurring tasks (and many recurring sub tasks). They use a website that flushed all tasks out, but Wrike can clove for everything… except recurring subtasks.

If you comb through the responses, it sounds like the short answer is, however they designed recurring tasks, it's impossible to make the subtasks recur. That's why it's not even a feature request or on the roadmap.

Hi,

I was also trying to setup recurring subtasks for a quarterly cycle - as I don't want to clog up the dashboard with multiple tasks for the same client along with annual task. However. I could set up recurring subtasks. I ended up creating a new workspace with those quarterly subtasks as tasks and each quarter as a folder to be copied over next quarter.

I would be happy if I could simply "roll them up" under a main task to sort of hide them? 

I'm  a new user so there may be a way to do that I've not found yet, but we need a daily meetings task and it cluters up the gant chart

Adding my voice to this thread. Recurring tasks with subtasks that also recur would be a great help. 

This upvoting is an awful feature, were I get even more unmotivated, when I see the request has been in your back log sinces nov. 2017. What a joke!
