Mass Delete Folders/Projects

Unfortunately, it's been confirmed today that there is no feasible way of mass deleting folders/projects as you can with tasks.

Tasks can be viewed in the List view & can be mass moved/tagged/assigned/copied/etc by selecting one, then clicking on "Select All" & selecting the command.

To do the same with Folders or Projects, I have been working from the left-hand blue area: typing a keyword at the top Filter area & selecting each Folder/Project ONE-BY-ONE, right clicking, & thereby deleting it. 😑

It would be great if a mass deletion technique can be developed for future deletion purposes...thanks!

Hi Julia, I can definitely see how this would be helpful if you have a lot of items you need to delete. I was wondering if this was a situation that came up often or if it was more of a one-time thing?

Hi Stephanie! It’s often...in fact, I have more to get rid of this week, but am dreading the process because I know how long it’ll all take me. Our folders are customized per ‘account’ & are ‘mobile’ so we move/delete them as necessary.

Hi Julia, let me jump in for Stephanie here. That's an interesting use case, thanks for sharing! I'm curious whether this process calls for actually deleting, or whether an archiving solution would be useful too?

Hi Anastasia! Archiving would be of no use as these folders/projects are accounts that we no longer need to keep track of. So mass deletion would be ideal. TY!

This would be a great feature not only for deleting, but for mass-selecting folders or projects (as you can with tasks). We have a number of tagging systems set up, and it would be great to be able to select and tag several projects at once, rather than one-by-one.

Any ideas of how we could implement this?

Thanks!
Carolanne

@Carolanne I understand! I don't have a workaround I can offer at the moment but if I do, I'll pop back here. Would love to hear from others if they have a way of doing this.

As a new user of Wrike I'm finding that there are many missing features at the project level. Mass deleting is just one of them. I vote to have a way to do this soon, :-)

Would prefer the initial view to be a blank circle (don't like to see the tick)

However, shame you still insist in messaging being oldest first (same as this feedback page)  Wrike you are not listening to your users !

I’d like to see an option to mass delete. Our use case is that our creative teams intake form creates a folder containing a number of small sub projects. We need to be able to delete the unused sub projects easily.

At the end of every quarter once we have backlogged and archived to our server I am reminded about how much I wish mass delete feature existed. Is there any way this will come into fruition?

Really wish you'd have included the feature to be able to mass delete projects.

I just manually deleted, one-by-one, 710 projects since they were wrongly imported...

Being able to mass-edit projects is as essential as mass-editing tasks, so I urge you to consider to include this into future product releases.

For a large enterprise such as ours, this would help greatly!

Here's an optional work-around that's slightly quicker than deleting each folder/project individually:

1. Create a "Delete Me" folder adjacent to the batch you want to get rid of.

2. Drag all the folders/projects you're looking to trash into the new folder

3. Delete the "Delete Me" folder

Basically, dragging items into an existing folder is quicker than the deletion process, so it can save a lot of time for larger scale deletion projects (until a more logical solution is developed by Wrike for this issue!).

Hey Rick Burtzel, thank you for the workaround! I would also recommend removing these projects/folders from any other folders they may be a part of, so that no copies remain anywhere else.

Thank you everyone for all of the feedback and use cases! They help our Product team during their conversations about future implementations for the product. I'll keep you posted on any updates.

Please add mass editing to folders and projects.  I want to be able to change the attribute of dozens of folders at once, such as color or a custom field status.

This is incredibly necessary. We had someone over the course of a few years add HUNDREDS of projects that need to be deleted. I'm now tasked with going through each, one by one to delete.

Ashley Fischer Can you not move the project to a 'deletion' folder and than delete the whole folder? O wait, you can mass move projects either..

Hi Folks: I'm just researching now how to do this. Has it really been 5 years and Wrike has not resolved this yet?

yes no option we need this!

also programming with the api in powershell is an option but this is fault sensitive you can shift select a folder why not simply press mass delete as option instead of delete and give an extra warning simpel fix! even make it 3 warnings are you absolutely sure. check box enter your password i dont care but dont let me get RSI as i need to remove hunderds of folders!

or atleats att the delete key option to delete a folder and do it like this!

Hi Kyle Martin, thank you for your comment! I can gladly confirm that now it is possible to mass delete projects and folders in the New Table View 🙂

You only need to select the relevant folder and then click on the option "Delete", as illustrated in the screenshot below:

Julia M, Jan Dijk I believe this is what you were looking for, could you please confirm? 😁 Thank you!

That works well! In my case I filter from start date, click the oldest, Shift + click where I want to delete from.  This will certainly save me time.

Thanks!

@...

great news that we can select multiple projects now!

the link you are sharing has outdated information, it states you need labs to enable the new table but that doesnt work anymore. You need to enable lightspeed.

Please update so we share this news with our users. Thanks
