Slack integration
Hello,
I love that you guys have brought integration into Slack. However, I'd like to make a suggestion. It's great to be able to create and get Wrike notifications in Slack. But, there's a big piece of thats missing for our team. If give feedback on a wrike task in slack that feedback isn't posted to the task back in Wrike. This lack of communication between the two apps can become problematic. As two team members may have a lengthy conversation (thread) about a project, but it remains in Slack. I may need to review what they discussed so I can add feedback. So if its not posted to the Wrike it can get buried in Slack. If you guys could provide a Slack command that would enable feedback to a Wrike task that would be really helpful.
I love both Wrike and Slack, so I'd love to see them both work great together.
I would also really like the option to have conversation posted in both places. Parts of our organization primarily use Slack and other primarily Wrike. At the very least it would be great is we could get personal notifications in Slack from Wrike if that person were @mentioned. Unless I don't see that option it currently forces an entire project or folders worth of updates to a single channel. If there is a better way I would love to know about it!
Thanks!
Hi Chase, you're right, all of the updates from a Project or Folder are pushed to a channel - there's no way to only get @mentions which are directed to you. We'll let others jump in if they have a different way of working with Slack/Wrike together.
Hi,
Is there some easy way to post an already created task in Wrike to a Slack thread? I can only seem to find the general project/folder settings regarding what features are automatically posted to Slack.
More generally, I think that the issue is that the integration seems quite one-sided in its functions.
While I can create new tasks in Wrike directly from Slack, or have general updates on a project/folder from Wrike post in Slack, I can't drive a Slack conversation into Wrike or make Slack requests directly from Wrike (I.e. commenting on a project/task/subtask, and choose to have that comment generate a direct message to the assigned employee in Slack - or the like).
Since Wrike doesn't offer instant messaging, it can be difficult to have all communication that requires integration between Slack and Wrike be so one-sided. It is almost always easier to simply change app, and communicate in parallel.
If not a more comprehensive integration, simply adding a "jump to slack" button, the same way that a created/posted task works as a "jump to Wrike" button would add some ease.
Mads.
I would get a lot of use out of being able to create a Wrike task from Slack that references the Slack conversation I am currently in, and in a way that later, Wrike links me back to the Slack conversation for reference. It should be easier to do this, similar to the Gmail app, which I love.
Greg
Yes, we need this too! This is the missing link. Not only would it save time in the moment, but also, it would keep the full context of discussions around a task in both Wrike and Slack.
Please consider adding this.
Also, has anyone figured out a way to create the functionality using Zapier or webhooks?
Thanks!
We'd love this too — that is, the sync'ing of comments between Slack and Wrike. We have to keep reminding our team, "If you're messaging about a task, do that in Wrike, in the task — not in Slack." If there was a smart/efficient way to achieve that, so that the comments end up in both places, then we won't have to keep reminding/policing our team about this.
Building on the comment/request above by Greg Shortreed (HQ) re "I would get a lot of use out of being able to create a Wrike task from Slack that references the Slack conversation I am currently in, and in a way that later, Wrike links me back to the Slack conversation for reference."...
... Slack has just released Custom Actions for Messages (see this intro Turn your conversations into action page and their Custom actions for Messages info for developers) which would be the perfect way to be able to create Wrike tasks from a Slack message and have a link back to the source (a la the way the Gmail Gadget works, which is awesome).
As an example, we use a knowledge management app called Guru and they already have some cool Custom Actions in Slack (see this Introducing Slack Actions for Guru blog post) where users can create 'cards' in Guru and also search on 'cards' in Guru without leaving the Slack conversation. For Wrike, just think 'cards' instead of 'tasks'. You could have a dialog appear in Slack that prompts for all the required task info re Title, Assignee, Date Range, Description, etc. Then... if the newly created task automatically included a link back to the Slack message...
...boom!
:)
Since we use Wrike across multiple departments, being able to notify Slack only when a new main task is created would be ideal. We do not want to see every sub task created after that.
(Apologies for cross-posting as I entered this here too: https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360007975993-Slack-Actions-?page=1#community_comment_360002077154)
Hi guys, It's great to see the "Create task (Wrike)" action now in Slack, but it is missing two important features:
Great to see "v1.0" of this Slack action.
But can you evolve it to v1.1 to include the two above features please?
I agree with MC Carter's feedback - it's great that we can now create Wrike tasks from Slack messages, but not being able to select the appropriate folder makes this much less useful and much more likely to result in mis-filed tasks that have to be cleaned up after the fact.
Wrike, why no love for Slack? Two years since these requests for features that most other project management integrations include...
Thank you for letting us know your thoughts on the integration here too Joseph Darnell 🙂
