Automatic update to task status when timer is started.
Currently, task statuses can be manually updated by teammates to keep the rest of the team informed on progress, however there is one automation feature that could link the status to the timer.
All tasks are default set to “Not Started” until a teammate starts working and manually changes the status to something else. However, often, an eager teammate will start a timer but will forget to change the status. They'll work for hours, possibly days, without the status ever changing. The project manager will see the task and think "oh gosh! We need to get started on this" when in fact the task is nearly done. A helpful automation would be for the task to automatically change to the first status in the custom workflow (ie. “In Progress”) as soon as a timer is started in the task. From there, the teammates or project manager can manually change the status throughout the workflow.
In essence, the activation of a timer MEANS that a task as in fact started, so the automatic change in status from "Not Started" to _____ ("in progress" "started' etc) is intuitive.
Hey, Keeley! Love the ideas about automation, thanks for continuing to send all of this in! :)
Hi,
Is this feature available or is it just an idea?
Hi İlyas, currently this is a suggestion from Keeley. This section of the Community is where everyone can share your ideas and upvote existing idea.
Our Product Team review the ideas here weekly and if it's something that will be added to their roadmap we provide you with updates here. Thanks for voting and welcome to the Community 🙌
Happy posting!
Was just about to ask for this ... it's a key feature I feel and would be great addition.
Any update on this one?

Hi everyone! There are currently no short-term plans to introduce this into Wrike. This does not mean that it will never happen however, so I would recommend continuing to vote and comment. As soon as I have another update for you, I'll let you know.
I would love this as well.
Thank you for the feedback, Kate Collins!
Bumping this. Starting a timer should change status to "In Progress"; changing status to "Completed" should stop the timer.
Thank you for supporting this older thread Gus Santos, I'll pass your feedback to our Product team shortly!

Hello All!
I see the request for this innovative idea has been up for almost 6 years. From the looks of things, the Wrike community greatly desires this feature just as much as we do!
Gus's buildout seems like an extremely adequate solution. Whether through an automation or site wide feature, this addition would be a game changer! Think about the hassle of always assuring you set the timer and adjust the items status; it creates a lag in efficiency due to the need to alter multiple attributes before actually moving to the task.
Personally, as a consumer of the Wrike product, we believe this would best be completed through automation (though we have no idea how the backend of Wrike looks). Just a suggestion.
