Add 'Pending' as a standard task status
I think Wrike should have 'Pending' as a standard task status (and not require a plan that has custom statuses in order to get it).
It is an obvious need, to be able to flag when a task is with the other party (e.g. the draft is with the client, awaiting feedback) — as it has progressed beyond the status 'Active' but is not yet 'Completed' — and when working on or managing a project, the difference between Active and Pending is massive.
A Pending list within a project makes it easy to see everything we need to follow up a client for.
An Active list makes it easy to see which tasks should be addressed by our team.
A list that combines both of these types of statuses—as Wrike's current Active status does—is not that useful and burns up time because it requires us to check comments in each Task to determine whether it is Active or Pending.
(P.S. I know it's possible to upgrade (at significant cost) to the plan that offers custom statuses. My request is for the basic plan to have this obviously and universally needed status.)
I heartily agree that a Pending or Review type status would be great for the basic accounts. As a user with access to custom statuses, I have found that they can be useful as long as everyone understands what they are for. A word of caution though: when we began using the feature it resulted in people tracking work less accurately at first, because they were tracking several actual tasks in one task and using statuses to indicate changes that, for best tracking, should actually have been the end of one task and the start of another. Once we overcame this we went to using fewer statuses and better templates, and have seen much more accurate workload representation for each week.
Hi everyone, thanks so much for sharing you thoughts about statuses here! I wanted to mention that we recently rolled out a 5th standard status for all accounts, and "In Progress" is available to all accounts created after 12/20/2016. The status wasn't automatically added to existing accounts to make sure that there would be no confusion around the workflows and processes teams were already working with, but we'll be happy to enable this status for anyone who is interested in this addition. Just let me know about it here and I'll be happy to open up a Support ticket to assist with the process. :)
This solves an issue I had, where I would assign tasks like crazy, but had no way to know if the person I assigned it to had even looked at the task or had started without them commenting.
I had hoped for, at least as a workaround, that you could have at least added a "Viewed By" Timestamp to the tasks, but thus fixes the issue.

Hi Anastasia. It's good that "In Progress" was added as a standard status, but are there any plans to add "Pending" as a standard status?
"In Progress" means that someone on our team is actively working on the task.
"Pending" means we are waiting on someone else, typically a client — for example, for their approval/sign-off.
They are two very different statuses, because one is "ball is still in our court" and one is "ball is in their court".
Also, as Jay suggested above too... a "Review" status would be great too — as that's different thing to Pending — it's when the assignee of the task has finished it, but needs to have final sign-off internally on it (e.g. in a Sprint Review by the Product Owner).
