Recurrent Tasks can't template from 'base' task, limited formatting and unable to parent sub tasks
The current 'Recurring Tasks' (which I love and forever grateful for) are limited and do not have the functionality of 'actual' tasks.
I think of Recurrent Tasks as 'repeating a template' however, the formatting and sub tasks of the original tasks do not flow through to the recurrent instances. Instead you need to put in a task heading, then make it recurrent, then build out the task description again with a limited formating tool and no ability to add sub tasks
Frustratingly - you can 'copy' a task and everything (except assignees) get's copied from the original 'template' (including sub task and folders etc). That's just super until you have to copy tasks hourly, daily, weekly, fortnightly and monthly across hundreds of projects. (which is why I do LOVE recurrent tasks)
I'm curious to understand the thinking here, and to see this feature fleshed out and developed as it is my core reason for using Wrike.
Is it possible for Recurrent Tasks to copy the 'template' task (including sub tasks) into the required schedules?
Hi Cate, thanks for posting this here! At the moment subtasks aren’t included to task recurrences, but it’s an interesting idea and I appreciate such a detailed description. Your requests help spark the conversations about future product enhancements with our Product Team and estimate the popularity of each request.
Here’s a couple of posts about Recurrent tasks that you might find interesting, it would be great if you could add your votes there too:
If you come up with any other ideas or have any questions about Wrike features, please let me know, I’ll be happy to help!

I have to agree that this would be a valuable add. Many of the processes/tasks/subtasks that we perform are repeatable. Having the ability to make a repeatable task template - including subtasks - would be a valuable function to our operation.
Hi Brian Patrick, welcome to the Community!
Recurrent tasks updates are currently not on the short-term roadmap. We're passing all your feedback to the team all the same. Thanks a lot for sharing!

Hi Wrike Team. I would also like to see Recurrences given some extra love. They have really saved me a lot of time in terms of setting up meeting task templates automatically — especially meeting templates with a lot of important recurring items, such as schedules. The most massive one by far that has really been impacted by this feature is our department's standing daily meeting, which includes each person's onsite or remote status. My team works a 3-week rotating schedule (we call them "blue week," "green week" and "gold week") and each person's on/off-site schedule for each day during each of these three weeks is spelled out on the recurring meeting task — "repeat every 3 weeks on [Monday]" (for example). The week heading is formatted in the color for that week and each person's onsite, remote, or holiday status is noted in color, which is always easier to tell at a glance in color than in words. Because recurrent formatting doesn't carry over when an edit is made, every time we add or remove something from a template or if our team's schedule changes, I must update, reformat, then quality check a minimum of 150 line items by hand. Allowing recurring items to keep their formatting would greatly reduce the time I spend on this task.
Hi Michelle, thank you for sharing your use case in such detail and for your feedback. I understand why this improvement would be beneficial for you and your team and I've passed your comment on to our Product Development team 👍
We will keep you informed in case there are any changes implemented. Please, let us know if there is anything else we could do to help.
Thank you!
