Reports date picker confusing

I'm a UX guy, so it was confusing to me to have the prev/next month selections off to the right of the calendar instead of where they would traditionally be on the top above the calendar. So it took me a minute to figure out how to see what month I was currently looking at.  While the large, blue area is...well...large, it was separate enough from the calendar that it didn't seem to be part of the calendar.

Here's what I would do....

Here's Google calendar's date picker, which is more like what I was expecting.

I was just coming in here to suggest the same thing.

 

I find it really confusing and it takes me a second to figure out what month I'm looking at as it doesn't say the "current" month view unless you click on the date.

 

Would be great to have the Months across the top rather than to the right. :)

Yes and yes! This was one of the first issues I found when vetting our customer form. If it was confusing to me, it will definitely be confusing to our customers. Having the months along the top would help a lot, and that huge current day area is overwhelming.

Another calendar quirk.... When a client selects a due date, they are currently able to select a past date. That is not a good thing.

Agree with all of this!

Currently when creating a report for a specific time frame, you have to click through the calendar to select your date range. If there is any way we can get the option to type in that date? Clicking through the calendar has caused some dates to be mis-selected because if it’s confusing layout and honestly, takes a lot of time when you are setting up a lot of reports.

Due to the inability to duplicate reports, I just spent two days+ manually setting up a bunch of reports that were needed for some management meetings and having to click through that calendar every time to select my dates was quite a pain. It really would be faster to just type in the start and end dates I need.

It would be great if the calendar looked like a more traditional calendar. The current calendar is confusing for users and has caused dates to be incorrectly selected.

I would be happy if the blue area could simply reflect the month you are currently viewing. However, using the GA model of both being able to add dates manually or through a simple calendar would be completely acceptable/preferable.

I'm so glad to find this feature request, because I also found this UI to be mind-boggling. I kept picking the wrong month as I toggled. I wanted to get a full year's report and there was no way to just type in some dates to start with. It took way too much time.
