[Status: Not Planned] Please allow single user licenses
I've been researching extensively, and there's nothing on the market that really works that well for freelancers who want to manage their own projects.
Wrike seemed like a really great fit for this, but you demand a minimum of 5 licenses, which makes it pretty unaffordable.
I think you're really missing an opportunity here.
Please rethink this limitation and let me know if you have a change of heart.
I can honestly say would change my life.
Thanks
Phil
I am an avid Wrike user.🙂
And as a serial start-up entrepreneur I know this one thing. You are much better off if you put your important systems in place early on. This applies to the area Wrike offers its solution, especially. If you plan to grow quickly, you need to be prepared for that growth. Thus, it makes sense that the founder/s (herein, also, myself as I am slowly laying the foundations for my next start-up) create/s the work structure for core business processes when he/she/they is/are still the only employee/s and when there is more time for that important foundational work.
The pricing structure of Wrike works against this simple truth. As an entrepreneur I need to bootstrap in the early phases of the company. Paying for extra rooms in a hotel when you can sleep only in one room at the time (situation where I am now in) does not make sense. Above in the comments are plenty of examples of smaller companies' dilemmas they run into as they start to experience the early phases of growth. The dilemma repeats itself.
Normally there is always the real reason behind good reasons to a hard question. In above the good reasons given by the company as far as the pricing model goes is: "Our goal is to facilitate team collaboration and help with visibility, which is why we sell in tiers of 5." Well, fine. Faced with that level of reasoning, polite conversation stops, of course. Respect is an important ingredient in any discussion and I, also, respect that this (in the above) is the best answer in the current circumstances that the company is able to give.
What is really hard to fathom, however, is the real reason behind the above given good reason. What gives? Wrike is already so well established, it seems, that the increased traffic that follows from more frequent upgrades that come along with the single user license model should not be a problem. Budgeting should not be a problem, either. Given, how exceptional the software itself is rules out that increasing users one user at the time could be a structural problem for the company software neither as regards billing nor administering the licensing.
So the decision to stick to the current pricing model leaves one dumbfounded. I already see (I have less than 2 mnths w/ Wrike so far) that we really need the business level capabilities very early on (f.ex. time tracking) that Wrike offers in order to put our processes in place as many of the processes remain exactly the same when the company starts scaling from one employee up.
I just cannot figure out the real business reason for not employing a single user model. Maybe someone in the community could help me with that? Greed does not work here either, as I am with the previous people who say that Wrike could earn more money by using the single license model. And it seems also out of place considering the vibes that emanate from the company ethic wise.
As humans we all display contradicting tendencies in our behavior and we are better off, when we solve those contradictions. Wrike software is already very good, but what is really best about it is how it is improving all the time and how dedicated the company employees seem to be as regards the company mission. Kudos goes for example to all the people who work in the Help section of the company.💐 And I am sure all users myself included wish the company all the best.😃❤️ One gives respect to the founder/s as well for getting the company so far already.
It is just this one thing.
I am using Wrike every day and I thought that I missed the calendar integrattion from Professional plan that must be payied 5 times for a single user. So as other suggested, in this forum I've tryied clickup.com. I found it way too complicated and after playing with calendar integration I gave up. So I comme back to say that I preffer Wrike over clickup.com. The Wrike -> google calendar integration works just fine.
I don't know what to do when I will need another Professional Plan feature? Pay $50 per month?
So, again +1 for single licence !!!!
Also I am using Wrike for Getting Things Done methothology (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Getting_Things_Done). Why should I share it with a team?
Hi everyone, thanks for your feedback here!
Our priority is to make the best project management and collaboration solution for teams that are trying to manage the complexities of work at scale. While we "never say never" to requests like this from valued users, a single-user plan isn't currently on the drawing board. We'll make sure followers of this thread have the opportunity to weigh in and share their feedback if this changes in the future.

Is there a logical reason for not having the Wrike single user license, I mean honestly. I had a phone call on the phone with my account manager, who led me to call another person, who led me to finally talk to a manager which I requested from the beginning and than FINALLY the manager after all 3 people couldn't exactly give me a logical answer to my request, had to bring it up to the sales team. All of this moving up the chain was because the pricing plan in your logic is completely flawed and if it wasn't well than my logic and requests wouldn't have kept going up the chain now would it? This topic has been heavily debated now for many years, I've read a lot of the replies in this forum and I'm still so confused. What are you guys doing? If you are a business owner, like me, than you'd know something about overhead. If you're familiar with what that term means than please keep reading. Overhead whether divided by 1 day or 1 year is still overhead and you develop a price based on your overhead (employee costs, costs to keep the lights on, etc). Whoever created your pricing strucutre, would have of course consulted with the company owner and determined a price that made sense to keep overhead paid for, employees happy, etc.
Currently Wrike does not offer any options regarding the 5 user minimum business license to have the opportunity to pay by the month. You can't pay quarterly, you have to pay a lump sum of $2,000 Canadian give or take in one day. That's ridiculous, that is totally ridiculous, whether you guys have people stay on your product for 1 month or 1 year, makes absolutely no damn difference to you and your company because your pricing strucutre should have accounted for that. When you lock people into one year you come off as if you guys are desperate to keep people on board and for you guys it doesn't make any financial sense. You would have more revenue if you gave more flexibility to your payment options. That's number 1. Ask me how I know that, well first of all from reading all of the reviews so far regarding your pricing, a lot of, A LOT of people are having A LOT of trouble with this same thing, also another interesting fact, I joined the trial account and now I'm looking elsewhere. Why? It's not because of Wrike, it's not because of the price Wrike is asking for each year, it's the fact that I am not going to pay $2,000 in one lump sum to use your product, maybe down the road, but not today. So you're losing money today. I would have already been implimented into the program and out of this community comment window on this topic if you just offered the opportunity for me to make a reasonable payment per month, I would have been stoked, even if you guys are ridiculuous and only offer 5 user minimums which is ridiculous and makes no financial sense again, I still would have already been into wrike enjoying my life lol and getting things done. Has anyone in the Wrike team ever considered doing a 3 person minimum? 3 people would significantly bring the price down for people who need to use your product and you could still make good money, the single users would be even more attracted to that plan and probably bite. So from a sales perspective, I get it, it's nice that you can make more money and get 1 guy to pay for 5 people, but that scale 1 - 5 makes no sense, 3 is not that bad and I think that's an option you guys should have already implimented a long time ago.
The reality for my situation is that the staff I dealt with were terrible. I brought up my concerns and it took me SOOOOOOO much effort just to speak with a staff member on my requests to pay monthly or quarterly. The staff I spoke with literally sounded like policy sheep, and quite honestly from reading a lot of your teams responses, I'm getting to think that a lot of you guys are sheep. Why on earth would anyone want to use the professional subscription in comparison to the business subscription. If someone you see in this community forum is talking about the business program, they probably are talking about that because they need forms, they need custom fields and the options etc, I mean you guys should read the comments before you reply because the pro plan vs the business plan is an absolute joke in limitations when you compare the two. Your company certainly loses money with your 1 user has to pay for 5 people model, if you changed that to 3 minimum you'd have automatically a lot more customers, Wrike certainly loses money when you don't offer montly payments or even quarterly for business at 5 users minimum and your staff so far in my experience other than help on learning wrike, suck. The support I got when I was calm in the beginning and trying to find a solution with your team about paying you what you wanted but seeking an alternative to pay montly or even quarterly was a horrible experience and when I read a lot of the Wrike staff comments regarding this topic it disgusts me. You guys are customer service and I think you all need more training in it. My request that started out nice got escalated 3 times, you're staff were so stubborn that it got escalated 3 times I know only because they themselves couldn't make sense of my requests and now it's under review so we'll see what happens. Please work on your customer service when it comes to pricing and honestly if you're trying to achieve another customer, instead of just ignoring them which you guys seem to be great at doing, try finding a middle ground with your customers, if someone brings up a concern, greet it with open arms and if they ask to speak to management, that's what management is for, it shouldn't have to be so painful. I want to be using wrike and if your company was smart you guys would help cater to people like me where you could get the asking price you're asking for but maybe with slightly different terms like monthly or quarterly. Again look what happens when you don't do that, you get nothing. Who trains you guys? I am not paying for Wrike and I'm certain you guys are losing out all the time due to your terrible pricing model and your staff who can't get a clue. I know I'm being harsh here but wow my experience has been poor and I think you guys need to learn a thing or two about making money and giving proper customer service.
Yours truly, a pissed off customer.
Cheers.

If its news to the product team that people want a single user license the god only knows where their heads have been for the last 4 years?
This is one of the stupidest decisions I've seen in a long time. I would have become a paying customer today - but nobody wants to deal with a business that so wilfully ignores its customers.
Like many users on this thread, I too am voting for the option to add a single user. I currently have a small team with 5 users but am hiring a new team member. In order for me to get the new team member on Wrike, I am now forced to pay for another 5 licenses of which 4 will sit vacant until the next time I have the opportunity to hire someone. That seems completely illogical and as a small business, not financially responsible. Would really love to hear a logical reason as to why this isn't an option. I am a paying customer after all.
Hi Luke Vincent, Will Rodriguez, thank you for sharing your feedback here! I've checked with the team - they understand the need and they'd like to work on this in the future; we'll keep this suggestion on our radar and I'll let you know when I have any updates to share.

Voting for this. I'll have to look for a Wrike alternative because I need Task dependencies and there is no solo license for that.

Lisa the way you respond to users feels incredibly condescending and dismissive, not to mention entirely robotic. MS Project it is, then.
Welcome to the forums Toby Buckley!
