[Status: Backburner ⌛️] Assign User Groups

I was very disappointed to see that you cannot assign a User Group to a task. I understand Wrike's idea that each task should have a single assignee (What we used to call an ONTG - one neck to grab) but it is also very common to have multiple people assigned to a task with one person responsible. We wanted to use User Groups this way so we did not have to go through the hassle of adding each individual you wanted to assign one at a time, which by the way Wrike allows and is exactly the same as allowing a User Group to be assigned, just much more time consuming. So if you can do it one by one it only makes sense to support doing it as a group

So I would like a feature enhancement to allow User Groups to be assigned to a task.

Hello team,

This feature will make an easier management of requests, blueprints, and so on. It will be really easy to prepare blueprints for the team rather than for individual members. When a complex blueprint/request/template is created, it's hard to change it if a team member leaves or we have a new team member.

Haley, sorry to say after 6 years and close to 300 up votes, it doesn't look like this is going anywhere. Wrike has devoted all their attention to the rounded corners in the UI instead of making core product enhancements. The classic lipstick on a pig scenario.  If you can, get out now! We're leaving Wrike at the end of our contract and encourage you and anyone else to do the same.

I understand it can be frustrating that an idea that you're interested in isn't planned by our team. Please rest assured that we pass on, discuss, and report on all feedback we receive here. Our Product team can't commit to working on all or even most of the suggestions shared in this forum, but some of them do get implemented (you can check the list of Community-generated ideas released last year in this post).

Our team is currently concentrating on Wrike Lightspeed, while also releasing updates for automation, and analytics (check out the new Chart view if you haven't yet). I hope you find these useful.

We will let you know if there are any changes in relation to this idea to assign user groups. Thank you again for sharing your feedback.

Upvoting. Competition has it even with unique functions. 

On Monday you can assign entire team/group to a single task and when time comes (task must be done actually) it will actually do a round robin assignment based on a members of assigned team/group.

That's now a duplicate that could be deleted, I guess. Today I found this post which I see has 343 upvotes and was initially proposed years ago. Here is what I posted yesterday:

We occasionally have turnover -- who doesn't? There are 10 people in my department, and of the general tasks that are assigned to all of them, I would greatly prefer if I could assign our Wrike user group instead, then make changes to that group if there are changes in the department instead of deleting and reassigning individual users to every task in our shared workspace. Being able to do this would greatly increase my efficiency. 

This is similar to another request in the Community for this same functionality when a new request form is submitted and individual users are auto-assigned to the resulting task:

In the same way, if a Wrike user group could be assigned to the (request form) task, and to redirects within the request form, this would make inevitable changes in personnel vastly easier and faster to manage.

We're going on 7 years  and 5 pages of requests for this being passed to the development team for consideration. Is this ever going to happen? Clearly a lot of your customers would benefit from this.

Lisa The easiest examples: I have a team of five 3D artists and my company is actively working on ~2-5 big projects at a time. These projects are ~2000+ tasks/subtasks each. 3D team participates in about ~20% of the total tasks. These projects are starting independently of eachother and while I was doing it on Monday, I could just assign entire 3D-team to a single task and when time to actual task was ready to be started (3D-team can't do anything before certain things happen) everybody in 3D-team was getting a notification, including 3D-team manager. From this moment they had ~2 hours to assign a specific person amongst themselves and re-assign a task to that specific person. When they didn't, the round robin assignment was triggered - either a random person or the person with the least amount of workload at the time was assigned automatically (this was setting specific).

This gives a lot of flexibility, I can start a project today and not have to worry about specific 3D-team assignments when time comes to do something by them in a week or two.

When I'm starting a project like this on Wrike, I have to assign a 3D-team-manager specifically, so he decides manually who will be re-assigned to that task, when time to start this task actually comes. The thing is: this can happen either in a week or in a month - depending how quickly preceding tasks will be actually finished.

This feature has been specifically requested by our team.

We need a way to indicate a task is assigned to the correct team without it getting lost in one person's "to-do's" since it could be picked up by anyone on the team. It would be really tedious to assign all members of our configuration team for each task they own within each project.

Throwing another request for this in here, as our usecase is a little different.  We've set up an internal knowledgebase using a Wrike Space, and my gosh it'd be lovely to be able to assign individual tasks/knowledgebase articles to a team/department.

Right now, we either need to assign them all manually, or rely on the team finding them in a shared folder/Space.  The first is time-consuming, and the second allows for individual user error.

Hence, assigning a task to a group, just makes sense.

I think this would be really helpful in planning and resourcing. We could assign a general group/dept a task or project and during the discussion/planning/daily stand-up. That group/dept can see what tasks are assigned to said group and appropriately assign to a specific person.

Just looked into this and was surprised to find i could not directly add a task to a group...  Also found this post which has been active since 2018....  The automation assignment to groups is kinda a shoe-horned approach.  Would really like to see the ability to directly assign a task to a group so tasks don't die with an individual.

I agree with David Williams. Since my original post here I have tried using the Automation workaround and have found it clunky compared to being able to directly assign a Wrike user group directly to a task or project. I'd like to be able to have different Wrike groups established according to which projects certain people would be working on regularly, then I could assign those groups instead of having to assign 5-10 different individuals from my team to each project... this would save a lot of time of searching out individual names and trying to remember who is supposed to be working on what, etc.
