Lock Task Due Dates

Is there a way to lock down due dates for tasks? I don't want to convert them to a milestone but I don't want others to be able to edit task due dates.

Hi Heather Wright, it's not possible to lock due dates but it's possible to change user roles to not being able to edit the dates. There is a similar product feedback post on the Community, could you please check it and upvote it as well if you agree to it? Please let me know if you have any questions🙋🏻‍♀️

If you use a blueprint you could always add the due date in there that way the original date will not got lost if someone changes it from the calander.

What if you are adding time out of the office and I do not want the end date to shift? Can I lock the end date?

It's not currently possible to lock dates Kim Consonni. Could you please share some more detail on your use case? In which situations would it be possible that your end dates would shift?

The end date shifts if I have added vacation time to a team member as an example, however I do not want that date to shift at all.

I am here to second this.
I would like the ability to lock dates somehow.

Here is my use case.
Once the fabrication of our widgets is done, I want to be able to schedule and subsequently lock the test date so that no one (or only certain people) can adjust that date.
I can see this working a few different ways. One way would be through an automation. IE when the task status changes to "scheduled" then have either a subtask that is a milestone generated for the end date of the parent task, or have the parent task convert to a milestone.

Otherwise if there was a way for me to manually but preferably right mouse click and lock dates in the gantt view, (or in another similar method)

Thanks,

Hi Frank Edgar 👋 thanks for adding your support! We'll ensure your comment is forwarded to the product team. As you explained, using automation could be a current workaround for this situation. Another potential solution could be utilizing Access Roles, which would allow you to restrict who can edit the dates.

As of today, there isn't a direct feature to lock individual task dates. We will keep you in the loop if anything changes in the coming months 👍

Do you have any use cases or training that you can point me to for that? Because I have been unable to accomplish what I want with the groups / roles that I have at hand. That could be because of the structure that I have, but regardless, I can't get what I am trying to done.

Also, you said that an automation is a workaround. That makes it seem like there is something available currently for that. How can I use automations to accomplish this?

Hi Frank Edgar  🙋🏻‍♀️

Apologies for the late reply. A possible workaround to prevent users from changing dates is to give them Limited or Read Only access while sharing the project, folder, or space. You can read more about Access Roles in Wrike here.

Also, there isn’t currently an automation to lock dates. However, as you mentioned, it is possible to set or change date field types based on status changes. You can check out more details in this Community Post or Help Center article.

Please let me know if you have any follow-up questions. Thank you! 😊
