Rolling Up Dates on Gantt Chart
TL;DR
Roll up dates on the Gantt Chart to automatically align parent task or project dates with the earliest start and latest end dates of the visible items they contain. You can apply calculate subitems to a single item or an entire branch after enabling the feature in Wrike Labs.

All users (except Collaborators, Contributors and Viewers) on all paid accounts can use date rollup.
By default, start and end dates for all items within Wrike are completely independent. For example, if you have a task with subtasks, the task and its subtasks can have different dates (they aren't automatically aligned). The same holds true for project dates and the dates of tasks within it.
You can roll up dates from the Gantt chart. Rolling up dates means that a top-level item’s dates are based on the dates of items within it. When you roll up dates:
- Start date: the earliest date that an item within it starts
- Due date: the latest date that an item within it ends
Important
This is an experimental feature, and as a result, it may have bugs, is subject to change, and may be discontinued at any time. Please feel free to use the feedback links in Wrike Labs to share your thoughts on this beta feature.
All users (except collaborators) on all paid accounts can enable dates rollup from Labs for their individual accounts.
- Visit Wrike Labs.
- Scroll to Roll up dates on the Gantt chart.
- Click Enable.
Note
If the feature is enabled, the bracket will be displayed with the project’s own dates as a bold filling, while the part representing dates of tasks that fall outside this timeframe will have no filling on the timeline, just an outline. This way you can see the actual dates of the project and when tasks in this project are scheduled.
To roll up an item's dates:
- Navigate to a folder, project, or space you need and switch to the Gantt Chart 1.
- In the table portion of the Gantt chart, click on the three-dot menu 2 on the column title with dates you want to roll up.
- In the menu that appears, hover over Calculate subitems 3.
- Select the type 4, Turn on calculations for:
- Tasks and projects
- Tasks only
- Projects only
After completing these steps, the values will be automatically rolled up.
To turn off the calculations, repeat the step 2-3 and select Turn off all calculations 5.
