Using AND/OR in Filters

In Wrike, you can use AND/OR logic to create more flexible and powerful filters. By default, filters use AND logic (Match all), meaning all conditions must be met. You can switch to OR logic (Match any) when you need to find items that match at least one of your conditions. For more complex filtering needs, you can also create filter groups with their own AND/OR logic. You can also refer to the article Filters in Table View for more information.
By default, all filters are connected with AND logic (Match all), which means items must match all filter conditions to appear in your results.
When you have more than one filter, the Match all button appears at the beginning of your filter bar.
-
Click the Match all button to open the dropdown.
-
Select either All filters (AND logic) or Any filter (OR logic).
Note
If you select Any filter and then remove filters until only one remains, the button will disappear. However, your OR logic preference is preserved, so if you add another filter, the Any filter setting will be restored.
Filter groups allow you to create more complex filtering conditions by combining sets of filters with their own AND/OR logic.
When you add a filter group, it uses the opposite logic of your main filter bar:
-
If your main filters use Match all 1 (AND), the group will default to Match any 2 (OR)
-
If your main filters use Match any 1 (OR), the group will default to Match all 2 (AND)
You can change the logic within a group by clicking its Match all or Match any button.
Filter groups appear as chips in your filter bar. The chip display changes based on the number of filters in the group:
-
Empty group: All in group or Any in group 1
-
1-3 filters: Shows the logic and filter names (e.g., Any: Status, Assignee) 2
-
4+ filters: Shows the logic and count (e.g., Any: 4 filters) 3
-
Nested filters: Shows top-level filter names (e.g., Any: Parent, Approval) 4
You can add special filter types within groups:
-
Parent filters
-
Approval filters
You can nest filters up to 5 levels deep. For example: Filters bar → Group → Parent → Approval → Decision
Note
You cannot add a group within another group. However, you can add filter groups to Parent filters and set OR operators between filters in the Parent filter section.
