Folders and Projects in Table View

TL;DR

In Table view, you can create, add, rename, duplicate, convert, open, copy links for, and delete folders, projects, and custom items. Use the item menu or + Item to add new or existing items, switch item types from the toolbar, and delete items from the context menu. You can also expand or collapse all nested content with the caret icon and a keyboard shortcut.

Overview

From Table view you can:

  • Add folders, projects, and tasks to the selected location.
  • Create new folders, projects, and tasks.
  • Manage custom fields for the selected folder, project, or space.
  • Convert a folder into a project and vice versa.
  • Delete folders and projects.
  • Open folders and projects in a separate tab.
  • Rename folders and projects.
  • Duplicate folders and projects.
  • Copy the permalink of folders and projects.

Tip

You can expand and collapse a folder, project, or space's content using the caret icon to the left of the folder, project, or space's name. If you want to see all the content expanded (including all subfolders) hold Ctrl (Cmd if you're on Mac) and click the caret icon. Use the same combination to collapse all items at once.

How to Add a Folder or Project or Custom Items

You can add new and existing folders and projects to the selected folder, project, or space from Table view. To do so:

  1. Navigate to the selected folder, project, or space and switch to Table view 1.
  2. Right-click or click on the three-dot menu button 2 next to the title of a folder, project that you want to add a folder/project to.
  3. Select Add subitem 3 from the list.
  4. Then you can:
    1. Add a new folder or project by typing the name of the new item in the field.
    2. Add an existing folder or project by entering the folder/project permalink into the field.
    3. Add specific custom item types from the menu
  5. Press Enter on your keyboard or click anywhere outside of the field.

The selected folder or project is added to the nominated location.

If you want to add a new folder or a project to the root location:

  1. Navigate to the selected folder, project, or space and switch to Table view 1.
  2. Click on the + Item 2 to the bottom of the table.
  3. Click on the caret icon 3 opens a menu.
  4. Select what you want to create (folder or project) from the list 4 or custom item types 5.
  5. Enter the title of the folder/project (or paste a permalink if you want to add an existing folder/project to the root location).
  6. Press Enter on your keyboard.

How to Convert a Folder or Project

  1. Navigate to the selected folder, project, or space and switch to Table view 1.
  2. Hover over the project or folder number, click on the box 2 to the left of the title.
  3. Click on the Item type 3 from the toolbar opens a drop-down menu.
  4. Choose an option from the list 4 to convert into a project or folder.

How to Delete a folder or project

  1. Navigate to the selected folder, project, or space and switch to Table view 1.
  2. Right-click or click on the three-dot menu button 2 next to the folder or a project you want to delete.
  3. Click Delete 3 from the list.

Tip

You can undo this action by clicking the Undo button on the panel above the table.
