TL;DR

You can edit task dependencies in the Gantt Chart table by updating the Predecessors and Successors column. Enter the predecessor task’s row number and use FS, SS, FF, or SF to set the dependency type. If you enter only the number, Wrike uses finish to start by default.

Overview

You can edit task dependencies from the table portion of Gantt chart.

How to Edit Task Dependency

  1. Locate the task that you want to edit the dependency for in the table portion of the Gantt chart.

  2. Double-click the Predecessors or Successors cell. If the column isn’t visible, click Fields or + Add column, and select Predecessors or Successors.

  3. Replace the text in the column with the row number of the task that should be the predecessor or successor task or change the type of dependency by replacing the letters that follow the row number:
    1. FS – to create a finish to start dependency ( finish to start: task B can't start before task A is finished)
    2. SS – to create a start to start dependency (start to start: task B can't start before task A starts)
    3. FF – to create a finish to finish dependency (finish to finish: task B can't finish before task A is finished)
    4. SF – to create a start to finish dependency (start to finish: task A can't finish before Task B starts)

Note

If you only enter a number then a finish to start dependency is created by default.

FAQ

Can I edit the dependency from the timeline?

No, you can only delete the existing one and create another.

Can I mass edit the Predecessors and Successors field using drag and drop?

No, you can’t use drag and drop to mass edit the Predecessors and Successors field. But there’s a quick workaround. In the table section of the Gantt Chart, copy a dependency value from one cell. Then, select the range of cells in the Predecessors and Successors column where you want to add it, and paste using your keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V on Windows, or Cmd+C and Cmd+V on Mac).
