๐Ÿ‘ฅ Releases - User Types, Effort, iOS, and More (10/11/2021)

Feature Updates

We've released the Customizable User Types feature for all Enterprise accounts. It allows account owners and admins to grant and revoke permissions from all users with a certain type, e.g., allow all external users to share tasks and folders or disallow all collaborators to change statuses.
It's available in the Account Management under the User Types tab.
You can learn more about the feature and share your feedback in this Community post.
  • Task Effort - Splitting Effort Among Assignees in Date Picker ๐Ÿ“…
Now in tasks with multiple assignees, if users select the Flexible effort type, they can specify a different amount of effort for each assignee in the date picker.
To specify effort for each day, users still need to go to the Workload charts or Resources view.
In this new version of the app, users can receive activity digest notifications daily. Previously, it was weekly.
  • Supported Browsers - Warning Message for Users Submitting External Request Forms on Internet Explorer ๐Ÿ“Œ
Since we no longer support Internet Explorer, we added a message that users will see when they try to submit an external request from Internet Explorer.

Will the timer be accessible on this new iOS version?ย

So how does this work with Access Roles?

For example if I have "Delete projects and folders" selected in a custom access role - does the User type overide that? or vice versa?

Debbie Brownlieย the access roles are simple: the highest right you have works out. So if you have different access roles in one project (perhaps one like "read only" via a group and personally you get the "full access") you get each permission you have in one of the roles (here you would have access to delete functionality). So it is an or combination for each right.

It works the same with custom access role. We are using a project manager role which is somehow between editor and full and which is customized. Nevertheless for better administration I would recommend to make a structure (if possible for you) like (example as we made it) "full access" includes "project manager" includes "editor".ย

Hey Elizabeth Bayer, No, this update isn't planned currently. I'll be checking about this again in early 2022.ย

Debbie Brownlie, just a small addition to what Sven Passingerย said, user types are set for the entire account, and access roles apply to particular work items like spaces, projects etc.ย

I am confused about this splitted efford functionality - I always thought multiple assignees should be avoided in general.

In my oppinion the split effort is a real improvement. Now the largest obstacle for using only one assignee per task is gone for us.

Hi Sven Passinger,

isn't it better to create subtasks for each assignee, so everyone can mark his part as completed?

Hi Florian Kislich,

in most cases I agree with you. But we have for example a design and an electronics department. Sometimes there are tasks one designer has and he needs a little legwork by electronic. Everybody knows that it is design task with 80h effort. But we had to make a subtask for 5h work for electronics. That saves several tasks in our projects to put the effort in the task.

Nevertheless you are right in a lot of other cases (most I can think of) a subtask has much more advantages.Especially if you want to point out who is responsible for the task.

Sven
