Custom field based on formular w. fields Allocated hours or Allocation effort
Hi ๐
I hope some of you may have good advice on a good solution for this.
I would like to be able to have a task with X effort in the Effort field to mark how much time i allowed based on the economy of the project. In addition to that I'd like to be able to sum up the Effort added to each subtask - and only that, not including the Effort on the main task.
This is further to be able to create a calculation that compares the two.ย
I was therefore looking into maybe changing the Effort allokation on the main task to be in one of the two fields Allocation effort or Allocated hours in stead in order to be able to create a custom field based on a formula using the sums like this [Allocated hours]/[Effort].
I already have a custom field which compared Time spent vs. effort, but we al also interested in being able to show how much of the allowed effort has been booked - and has the team surpassed the allowance stated on the main task.
ย
I've failed to find information on how exactly to use the fields Allocation effort and Allocated hours and it seems like they are not part of the fields to chose from when creating a custom field.

Hi Maria Hermansen, thank you for creating this post. May I ask if you have already explored Workload charts and budgeting options in Wrike?
Budgeting in Wrike includes the possibility to define hourly rates for users and job rolesย and customย hourly rates in projects. Also, you can set financial fields that, as stated in our Help Center, help with planning and tracking the financial progress of your projects by automatically calculating essential financial metrics: planned fees and cost and actual fees and cost.
@... thanks!ย
I assume I can use the budget field and planned vs. actual if we begin to use hourly rates on our employees and have that shown in the card in board view? It the amount of hours is important to the team, to eliminate wrong, manual calculation would you suggest to create a custom field changing the budget calculations into hours?ย
We use workload charts a lot for time management across all our active projects (we don't work in closed project teams, so some colleagues are involved in all projects), but don't for each project as we run about 4-600 through a year
Currently we're looking into changing up the way we use Wrike, currently project manager view projects in gantt or table, but we want to approach using the board view, to make it easier for everyone working on a project to engage in the planning and monitoring of hours. Therefore we want important information, such as total amount of hours available, booked hours, spent hours, and remaining hours :)ย
Hi Maria Hermansen, it's definitely an interesting case. I've created a ticket with our Support Team so that one of our experts can provide you with an accurate reply ๐

Thanks @... much appreciated, and good to know it isn't an obvious user mistake on my end ๐
