[Status: Launched ๐] Dynamic Request Form: Conditional Follow Up Questions
I really like the dynamic request form feature, and use it often with being able to apply not only directing different answers from a drop down menu to different pages that may have have a different set of questions; but also to combine multiple request forms to make it 1 form. I.e. our Leave Request form is actually 6 different leave request forms in 1.
The only thing I don't find helpful is when I have aย follow up question that I don't want to be redirected to another page. An example how I use conditional questions on the same page - "Do you require an item for this request?" [dropdown menu to include yes or no], follow up question now is "If yes, what is it that you require....etc." [question type dependent on what is being asked, short answer, checkbox, dropdown, etc.].
Currently it does not make sense to direct this question to another page because it would make the flow of questions for the user overly complicated (feedback we've received when we have multiple pages to a request form with only 1 follow up question), however, by keeping it on the same page I am unable to make the follow up question "required" as it might not apply to all requests. Even though it might actually be required in some circumstances.ย
It would great if questions could be dynamic not only to be sent to other pages, butย by finding a way to keep them on the same page, or make the "required" field dependent on answers.
Hi Bailey, this is very fair feedback and I can see exactly why your team may find the form longer if there are many pages due to conditional redirects. The detail you've provided here is great, and so useful for our Product Team when reviewing this feature.
In other forms I've seen where someone wanted to achieve the same process, they often used this workaround; the input field 'If yes, what is that you require...' could also include, 'If no, please type N/A', in your question field.ย
If the person selects 'No', you can ignore the following input field for requirements when the task is generated.
Admittedly, it's not an ideal solution, but it may work for you now and I'd like to hear your thoughts on it.
If there are any related releases from our Product Team I'll be sure to update you here. Thanks for posting ๐
Thank you Stephen for the feedback, and possible other solution for the workaround. I have a couple forms I may be able to try this possible solution out with, and see how effective of a "workaround" it may be. This sounds like a good option for follow up questions that I need to put as "required".
ย
That's great to hear Bailey ๐
If you do apply the solution, it would be great toย get yourย insights so feel free to pop back to me here if you'd like to share your thoughts on it ๐
We too would love to have conditional options within forms.ย Our marketing team has the need to route complicated projects requiring multi-disciplined teams to one project.ย Currently we require all projects to get routed through Operations but ourย various departmentsย would like the ability to ask follow-up questions depending upon the tactics the requester needs.ย An example might be a project request for an digital ad, a SharePoint page for employees to volunteer for an event and maybe some promotional items.ย In this case, I would like to have an open/close tree option that if the requester "checks the box" for that option further required information shows but does not take them off of the main form because they need to continue requesting further tactics.ย Again, a conditional Open/Close format (if then statement?) would really help streamline our intake system.
The conditional redirects work great if the requester only needs one item.
We echo Bailey Burke's & Andrea Bonk's comments re: conditional follow-up questions.
Is there a roadmap for this? Re-directing to a new page anytime there is a conditional response is cumbersome to the creator of the form and to user.
ย
Thanks!
Allison
I agree with the above posters. The ability to have a conditional form solves a lot of problems.ย
Basically, I'd like to hide a prompt unless it is needed. The need for the prompt can be determined by the response to a prior question.ย
This simple capability makes the request forms take on a whole new dimension of usefulness.ย
Thanks!
The same goes for our company. We have several forms where it would be preferable to have conditional questions based on previous answers within the same page. Is this something that will be developed in the near future?
I agree with the above. I need to be able to ask follow up questions in the dropdown, but not redirect to a new page for each time. Are there plans to add conditional logic to request forms anytime soon?ย
Same here. I'm afraid that with too many request forms, we'll go from using forms to not using forms because there will be so many to choose from. Need better tools to allow consolidation of forms and dynamically changing questions on a page with some basic logic.
Also, is there a thread or request I can upvote that talks about copying a form or even copying a question from one spot in a form to another. I can't count the number of times I've built the "Which Project" question on all my forms and then have to build the answers and direct which folder the task gets put into.ย
Hi everyone, thanks for your continued input here and support for the suggested feature. For now I don'tย have any updates, but I'll make sure to get back to you when I have news.ย

We also need the ability to create dependent/conditional/cascading drop-down lists inside a request form. These cascading fields would act as a filter for the next dropdown question in the form. This will reduce the number of custom fields required in the system and improve reporting/filtering.
We are hoping to use Wrike's built-in reporting/viewing features and are not currently connecting Wrike to another database for reporting where relationships can be built. Using the recommended workaround by creating an independent custom field for all the variations is creating limitations in reporting, request forms and making maintaining the systems difficult.
These links explain what we are hoping Wrike will create.

Just echoing everyone's sentiment. My work-around is to use Formstack with Zapier to build out robust forms that can create Wrike tasks. It would definitely be better if this was native to Wrike at some point though!
Hi everyone, thank you for the feedback. I don't have an update for you at the moment, but I'll let you know as soon as I do.
This is also very critical for us.
Hi Anthony A, thanks for the feedback! It's been passed on to the Product team.
Any updates from the Wrike product team on when they could add this to their development schedule?ย ย Since Wrike added automation to request forms, we are exponentially more efficient.ย This is the only thing holding us back.ย ย
Please add IF/THEN logic to request forms so we can dive deeper with additional questions when relevant and ignore those questions when not relevant.ย It will greatly help users point to less request forms and decrease their search to make sure they choose the correct request form each time.
Hey Wendy Pardo, thank you for your feedback here! It's been passed on to the Product team.
There are currently no plans to add this to the short-term roadmap, but this is subject to change. Once this thread reaches 60 upvotes, I'll be able to provide the thread with a status update.ย
If you have any other questions, let me know!
I would also like to utilise thie cascading functionality from dropdown options
@...ย we are at 60 upvotes now, can you please provide a status update.ย
@...ย this would be an incredibly useful function for my company. Can you provide an update?
Hey everyone, apologies for the delay in response here.
The Product team currently have no plans to add this suggestion to the short-term roadmap. I understand that this is disappointing, but be assured that the team is constantly reading your feedback in regards to this. If anything changes, I'll be sure to let you know.
@... we very much need conditional fields within our forms--please consider adding this feature sooner than later. Thanks.
Hi Lynn Voie, thanks for adding your vote here.
If anything changes in relation to this request, I'll be sure to let update the thread.ย ย

Question -- if a user is directed to another page, are the 'required' questions from other pages still required? Or is the requirement ignored?
Can we please get an update if this is being considered for the 2021 roadmap?ย
There has not been 1 week goes by where someone at my company does not request this functionality to help us automate more.ย ย Originally, I was told it needed 60 upvotes and I see this functionality has 70 upvotes now.ย ย If I had my 120 person company provide upvotes, this would be the #1 request we are getting.ย ย My companies 2nd vote would be to add progress tracking on the task level so we could better manage our OKRs and other tasks with automation in reporting.
Agreeing with Wendy! What will it take to get on the list? It is a major downfall of Wrike currently.ย
Agree with Wendy. This is our number 1 feature request.
Hey everyone! I'm checking with the team again now, and I'll let you know once I have an update from themย ๐

Hi again, everyone! I've checked with the team as promised and for now, this isn't on their short-term roadmap. At the same time, they might be able to research this in 2021, so please stay tuned for more updates from me. Have a great day!ย

Hi!ย
Here they are: https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003404345-Dynamic-Request-Forms
I have created redirections to different pages based on selected drop-down options.
Cheers,
